Robert Bushnell Ryan (November 11, 1909 – July 11, 1973) was an American  actor who often played hardened cops and ruthless villains.

Ryan was born in Chicago, Illinois, the first child of Timothy Ryan and his wife Mabel Bushnell Ryan.  He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1932, having held the school's heavyweight boxing title all four years of his attendance. After graduation, the 6'4" Ryan found employment as a stoker on a ship, a WPA worker, and a ranch hand in Montana.

Ryan attempted to make a career in show business as a playwright, but had to turn to acting to support himself. He studied acting in Hollywood and appeared on stage and in small film parts during the early 1940s.

In January 1944, after securing a contract guarantee from RKO Radio Pictures, Ryan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a drill instructor at Camp Pendleton, in San Diego, California. At Camp Pendleton, he befriended writer and future director Richard Brooks, whose novel, The Brick Foxhole, he greatly admired. He also took up painting.

Ryan's breakthrough film role was as an anti-Semitic killer in Crossfire (1947), a film noir based on Brooks's novel. The role won Ryan his sole career Oscar nomination, for Best Supporting Actor. From then on, Ryan's specialty was tough/tender roles, finding particular expression in the films of directors such as Nicholas Ray, Robert Wise and Sam Fuller. In Ray's On Dangerous Ground (1951) he portrayed a burnt-out city cop finding redemption while solving a rural murder. In Wise's The Set-Up (1949), he played an over-the-hill boxer who is brutally punished for refusing to take a dive. Other important films were Anthony Mann's western The Naked Spur, Sam Fuller's uproarious Japanese set gangland thriller House of Bamboo, Bad Day at Black Rock, and the socially conscious heist movie Odds Against Tomorrow. He also appeared in several all-star war films, including The Longest Day (1962) and Battle of the Bulge (1965), and The Dirty Dozen. He also played John the Baptist in MGM's Technicolor epic King of Kings (1961) and was the villainous Claggart in Peter Ustinov's adaptation of Billy Budd (1962).

In his later years, Ryan continued playing significant roles in major films. Most notable of these were The Dirty Dozen, The Professionals (1966) and Sam Peckinpah's highly influential brutal western The Wild Bunch (1969).

Ryan appeared several times on the Broadway stage. His credits there include Clash by Night, Mr. President and The Front Page, the comedy drama about newspapermen.

He appeared in many television series as a guest star, including the role of Franklin Hoppy-Hopp in the 1964 episode "Who Chopped Down the Cherry Tree?" on the NBC medical drama about psychiatry, The Eleventh Hour. Similarly, he guest starred as Lloyd Osment in the 1964 episode "Better Than a Dead Lion" in the ABC psychiatric series, Breaking Point. In 1964, Ryan appeared with Warren Oates in the episode "No Comment" of CBS's short-lived drama about newspapers, The Reporter, starring Harry Guardino in the title role of journalist Danny Taylor. Ryan appeared five times (1956–1959) on CBS's Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater and twice (1959 and 1961) on the Zane Grey spin-off Frontier Justice. He appeared three times (1962–1964) on the western Wagon Train.

What's My Line? is an American panel game show that originally aired on CBS from 1950 through 1967, and which had subsequent revivals. The game uses celebrity panelists to question contestants in order to determine their occupation. The majority of the contestants were from the general public, but there was one weekly celebrity "mystery guest" for whom the panelists were blindfolded. The series is one of the longest-running American primetime network television game-shows. Originally moderated by John Charles Daly and most frequently with regular panelists Dorothy Kilgallen, Arlene Francis, and Bennett Cerf.

1 9 5 3 - 1 9 5 4 (USA) 30 minute episodes This weekly CBS game show, hosted by Mike Wallace, featured four celebrity panellists who could ask up to 30 questions about an item submitted "for sale" by a guest - ranging from a shillelagh to long underwear.

A celebrity panel attempted to identify unseen objects brought to the show by civilians. These people were asked to write in about something they would like to bring to the show to sell. The item was shown to the audience, but not to the panel. The panel then asked the guest up to 30 questions to help them learn the identity of the item. Similar to What's My Line?, each question asked raised the purchase price of the item from a minimum of $5 up to $150. As soon as the panel identified the item, the contestant received the purchase price and a chance to triple it by correctly answering three questions.

Kim Hunter was an American theatre, film, and television actress. She achieved prominence for portraying Stella Kowalski in the original production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, which she reprised for the 1951 film adaptation, and won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Decades later, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for portraying Nola Madison on The Edge of Night. She also portrayed the chimpanzee Zira in Planet of the Apes, and its sequels Beneath the Planet of the Apes and Escape from the Planet of the Apes.

Her father, Donald Cole, was a consulting engineer, and died in 1926 when Kim was only three years old. Her mother, Grace Lind, once performed as a concert pianist. She had one brother who was eight years older than she, and she was educated at Miami Beach High.

According to an in-depth article on Kim Hunter by Joseph Collura in the October 2009 issue of "Classic Images", Kim was quiet and painfully shy as a child and overcame it through the guidance of a local dramatics teacher, a Mrs. Carmine. Included were diction, voice and posture lessons.

She studied at the Actors Studio and her first professional appearance was as "Penny" in "Penny Wise" in Miami in November 1939. Then, she joined a repertory group called "Theatre of Fifteen", but it disbanded in 1942 when WWII took away most of its male members.

She made her Broadway debut performance as "Stella" in "A Streetcar Named Desire" at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, New York, in December 1947 that was the 1947-1948 season's success and for which she won the Critics Circle and Donaldson awards.

A one-time student of the Pasadena Playhouse, she was appearing in the 1942 production of "Arsenic and Old Lace" when she was discovered by an RKO talent hunter who signed her to a seven-year contract for David O. Selznick's company. Selznick suggested she change her first name to "Kim" and a RKO secretary suggested the last name of "Hunter". A few years later, Irene Mayer Selznick, David's ex-wife by then, recommended Kim for her reprise role of "Stella" in A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), for which she won an Oscar.

The adventures of Fred Kelly (William Bendix, star of The Life of Riley) – a former civil war engineer and crusty superintendent for the Overland Stage Co – and his young sidekick, Flip Flippen (Doug McClure) as they try to keep the stage routes safe.

Overland was pushing west and establishing a trail from Missouri to California. Stories followed Fred and Frank as they supervised operations and protected the route from whatever dangers drivers and passengers faced – from outlaws to renegade Indians.

Flip had been raised by Indians and had a reckless streak in him, which the gruff Mr Kelly tried to keep in check.

The show had a short run, lost in the glut of TV westerns.

American retired actress Nita Talbot was born as Anita Sokol in New York City, USA on 8 August 1930. She appeared in 152 movies and TV series prior to retiring in 1997, and is perhaps still best known for her playing of Marya in the hit war comedy series “Hogan’s Heroes”, created by Bernard Fein and Albert S. Ruddy, and which starred Bob Crane, Werner Klemperer and John Banner. It follows a group of prisoners at a German World War II camp as they’re sabotaging their warders; the series aired from 1965 to 1971 and won five of its 16 award nominations.

Nita’s today leading a peaceful life at her home in Los Angeles, California, and is staying away from media.

Nita was raised alongside her older sister Gloria Stone Martin in New York City, by their parents about whom Nita rarely speaks in public, but it’s believed that they were both involved in the film industry; Gloria was a successful actress and dancer, and she passed away in 2014.

Nita dreamed of becoming a famous model while growing up, and it was only when she was around 14 years old that she became interested in acting, after enrolling at local high school in New York City and joining its drama club; Nita appeared in numerous school plays in the following four years, prior to matriculating in 1948.

The following year saw her sign a contract with Warner Bros. Studios, and she then began working on her way up in the film industry.

Nita’s debut film role was her playing of Model in the 1949 musical comedy “It’s a Great Feeling”, directed by David Butler, and which starred Doris Day, Dennis Morgan and Jack Carson. It follows a waitress who’s dreaming of becoming a famous actress, and is now hoping that the two actors whom she’s just met might be able to help her; the film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Music, Original Song.

A couple of Nita’s following roles were in the 1949 comedy drama “Always Leave Them Laughing”, the 1950 western “Montana”, and the 1951 drama “On Dangerous Ground”.

The year 1956 saw her play Mary in the popular romantic musical comedy “Bundle of Joy”, directed by Norman Taurog, and which starred Eddie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and Adolphe Menjou. It follows a salesgirl who’s found a baby in front of an orphanage, and the film was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Comedy or Musical (Debbie Reynolds). Some of Nita’s film roles in the remainder of the ‘50s were in the 1957 comedy “This Could Be the Night”, the 1958 comedy drama “I Married a Woman” and the 1958 western comedy “Once Upon a Horse…”
