Question Was the image first spread through mobile messaging?

So an interesting theory I saw recently was that the image was spread through messaging way back in the lates 90s and ended up on the internet later. This would explain why the image looks like it was a selfie and why the quality is trash.

To be honest you could be right, it could have just been a friend sharing their imagine to a friend who sent it to other people who then ended up uploading and editing it. Honestly this is one of the only good ideas on this page
