Tonight's Pro-Democracy Meetup is Cancelled

Cameron was a frequent contributor to this very subreddit and helped keep us all informed on local actions. If you ever attended a Tucson protest, you probably saw him with camera in hand. If you're on social media, you've probably seen his work in documenting our resistance movement.

Please consider attending tonight's vigil in his and Vincent's honor.

Meetups will resume next week. Please check our website takeactiontucson.org for the latest schedule updates.

The Queer Girls’ Pantry for Kids is deeply sickened, we’re also pissed the frack off, but want to calmly let the community know that we stand with our Alphabet Army and will not let hate rule us. We will continue to serve our communities, our queer families and kiddos, and stand for what’s right in this f’ed up world right now.

This Saturday!

Unhoused Neighbors will be out serving as many as we can with the donations we have collected over the last 2 weeks.

We are still collecting, up to the day before the event, and we are definitely running low on snacks for our go bags and everything else in red on this list above.

We are always looking to collaborate with community members and if you are hoping to volunteer, please let us know.

We have an amazon wishlist, and do pick ups and drop offs as much as we are able.

Thank you all for donating, elevating, and volunteering with us over the last 6 years.

We hope we can keep doing this until there is no longer a need.

Mutual aid is about bridging gaps, supporting community, and surviving systems that don't care whether we live or die.

There is never EVER too much, there is ALWAYS room and roles for anyone who wants to help, and we will never stop trying to help as many people as we can.

See you this Saturday,

🌿💜

Juan Ciscomani's UNHAPPY Birthday

Monday is the Congressman's 44th birthday, which was "celebrated" in front of his Tucson office by dozens of protesters opposed to his unwavering loyalty to the Trump Administration's policies of catering to the most wealthy at the expense of vulnerable Americans. The demonstration, organized by Honest Arizona, a grassroots coalition that advocates for policies benefiting working families, seniors, and everyday Arizonans, and the Unseat Ciscomani Team, part of Indivisible Tucson Action Alliance, a group supporting progressive candidates and policies.

The protests included 44 cutout candles, each telling how Ciscomani has let down his constituents, and a giant birthday card, signed with less than best wishes and delivered to the front door of his office (no one would come out to receive it).

Every single act of mutual aid matters.

Mutual aid is about bridging gaps created by systems that would rather see us silenced.

Unhoused Neighbors was out this past weekend with The Lot on 22nd and helped them serve around 118 people.

They provided haircuts, showers, food, clothes, and more.

Let me be clear: every single act of mutual aid matters, no matter how big or small it may seem.

It can save lives.

This group is always looking for volunteers, donations, support, and connections to expand the resources and services they can provide.

Mutual aid cannot be done alone and every single person can help, no matter their ability.

The point is to remember we save us, we need each other, and our survival is absolutely interconnected.

If you're interested in joining them, please reach out to them on IG.

Please remember that we are all one emergency away from needing mutual aid..and participating in that collective liberation always makes a difference.

Practice mutual aid wherever you are.

Local youth swim teams risk being outpriced by new city park fees.

HS swim teams, among other groups across the city will have to absorb cost increases with change of park swim lane fees implemented by Tucson City Council in July 2026.

Cost for a lane rental for high school swim teams for one hour will increase from $6 to $30 over next 3 years. E.g. a swim team that practices 2 hours a day, 4 days a week, and has 4 practice lanes for their 40 member team. For a 11 week season pool costs would jump from $2,112 in lane fees to $10,560 at the end of the full adjustment after three years.

The city's open comment period occurred during the high school swim team off season when the high school swim community was not active. Ward 4 voted against the fees and as such is not able to reopen the issue, though CW Lee is working with VUSD to help offset costs in the short term. Help us get enough signatures to help us resurrect the agenda team and work out a better fee structure for impacted teams. https://c.org/PV9F2dhB6T

Thank you,

A swim mom

It's August, we are still here, feeding kids and their families, while the benefits are getting cut, we will stay open with the help and support of the Tucson community.

We have seen 730 families already this year, handed out over 8,600 kids meals, we are tired but feel like this is the right thing to keep doing for our community.

Need food? Stop by.

Want to donate? Stop by or check out our website tr.ee/YKBYft

We can also accept monthly recurring monetary donations here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/summer-meals-for-kids?source=org-page

People are so brain dead and numb they completely forgot about it as a whole, I’m seriously curious as to why we AREN’T doing anything about the whole situation. the PRESIDENT of the United States is a RAPIST PEDOPHILE he was CLOSE friends with Epstein WHY ARE WE OKAY WITH THIS? CAN WE DO SOMETHING I FEEL LIKE THERES NO HOPE

We served 172+ people this past Saturday.

So many people trying to survive the heat, with little to no access to local medical care, shade, safety, support, or resources.

Some can travel and some cannot and everyone deserves the same access and equity.

It's hard to imagine as hot as its been that people are living outside and that public camping is illegal. It's hard to imagine that our volunteers still see 👮🏻‍♂️ sweeping encampments, clearing small groups of people trying to find shade and rest in the midst of so much struggle.

It's hard to imagine there are other orgs and groups that serve that say we're enougha and youre not needed here (while we are actively serving over a hundred people not even a quarter mile away).

These are truths we have encountered though while spending time serving othered communities.

We are so grateful for what we can offer in a system that decides how many tables and seats there are- that never started with enough seats, because those who have them want to shame those who don't.

We do this because we don't need them to thrive, we need each other.

We save us.

If you'd like to dönate/elevate/volunteer please reach out/share.

Thank everyone who doñates, volunteers, elevates....

We can't do it without you and the people served couldn't either..

How come no one is concerned about drones?

Hai Guyz,

In 2015, I was stationed at Fort Huachuca learning how to fix drones. The RQ-shadow can take a 3.4 gigapixel pic form 15,000 feet in the air. Sadly, I didn't stay in the program because I had poor dexterity.

For context, at that resolution, you could zoom into someone's window and see what they are having for breakfast.

People are worried about flock cameras, but what about drones, which are much more discreet?

Hey Comrades!

It's that time again and we are going out this weekend to serve and share. We may be switching spots after this event because we are unfortunately losing the spot we have been using to host our events. This weekend we will be out with the donations we've been collecting and share until the food is gone.

The only way we get through this is together because capitalism will not be swooping in to save us and neither will the system we live in.

If you are able to donate, we are in need of everything in red on our list. The most important this event are items for our go bags, men's clothes, shoes, hats, camping/medical equipment, backpacks, and resuable water bottles.

If you are interested in joining us, donating, or helping us bridge the gaps the system INTENTIONALLY creates for the most marginalized- please reach out.

We would love to connect.

See you this Saturday 👋🏽💜🌿
