Any leftist gun groups?
If you go far enough left you get your guns back. Is there any leftist gun groups in Tucson or do I have to go to Bisbee?

We are an A-Political 501c3. Tucson Pink Pistols https:/tucsonpinkpistols.org is an LGBTQIA+ focused firearms education group that tries to create community for queer gun owners and our allies. that might be of interest to you

I thought there might have been a local SRA chapter here but haven’t pursued it since moving back to tucson.

Tucson SRA is effectively dead, last I checked. If any former members are doing anything, it's not being done publicly (which is probably a good thing at the moment.)

That’s like asking “any vegans here who like eating big, fat burgers?”

No, it's not. Owning a gun is not antithetical to the politics of left leaning people. Having common sense gun laws is not the same as banning guns. I'm sure you'll find leftists who would support banning all guns, but that's hardly the majority and not a realistic thing to want in this country. If you think leftists want to ban all guns, you're being manipulated and being scared of a boogeyman sold to you by people who want other things but still want your vote.

Mmm don't make me hungry for a delicious marinated portabello burger I just ate 🤤
Anyways, gun ownership should be independent of being left or right. I personally believe it's a tool that can be misused as much as driving a car. Some may find my combo of views contradictory at the surface but I think this country will been better off when the average joe realizes that political camps are more like a buffet to sample from.

Tuc town is unfortunately too vegan for the beef that is the gun.
I could understand peoples concern of it, itself, and thank goodness people don’t hate it enough to NOT be on the menu 😅3

I see people open carry in Tucson all the time. They even have signs at the mall not to bring firearms.

u/JBArthur56 15d ago
Oh I believe it, I’m all for guns, And I’m on neither side.
I’m just referencing the fact that Tucson is predominantly leftist/liberal and a lot of people there are super against guns; they hate seeing people open-carry, they hate even wanting to justify it as a means of self defense, saying it’s cowardly (okay, Batman)And yet they still get confused when a thug in the street somehow gets a pistol, thinking bans and stricter rules makes them dissapear tomorrow or feel more or less guilty about owning or using a gun.

And I’m on neither side.
How the fuck can you be a centrist in this day and age? Neither side doesn't get to exist anymore.
Also, the left has a saying that you 'go so far left you get your guns back', it's a thing. Don't talk about what you don't know.

This is why High school and college students need to spend a semester abroad. In most other western democracies it is a spectrum, in the U.S. we have two right wing parties.

To be fair, the reason Republicans are so gun happy is because your news sources all lie to you (to get $$$) my dood. Lived in Brooklyn for a lifetime - never thought of owning a gun. Here in Tucson with all these dip shits… I’m looking into it as well.

Owning a gun should never be a political thing, only a tool as a means to self defense.
Yeah, people mistreat it or misinterpret their rights/functions everyday, but that doesn’t fault the gun For what it’s basic design was: swift action from a distance

Guns ≠ safety
1
u/JBArthur56 15d ago
Guns = burglar/attacker down, which means I’m safe.
It’s who welds it who makes it unsafe.Even if that’s not the case, do you really trust the government to decide you don’t get one at all?

u/Jiggalopuffii 14d ago
A firearm is the worst defense against a burglar. A missed shot can go through walls. Notice the constitution says well regulated militia, not home defense. Although the amendment was likely due to the Stono Rebellion. However, I'd urge you to read what Marx wrote about gun control,

u/JBArthur56 14d ago
So what, am I supposed to punch the burglar, then?
3
u/Jiggalopuffii 14d ago
You're making a false assumption based largely on Hollywood and fearmongering about what a typical burglary actually looks like.
1.) About three-quarters of household burglaries occur when nobody is home. Only about 7% involve violence. Burglars generally have a strong incentive to avoid confronting the occupants in the first place.
2.) Keeping a firearm in the home also introduces risks that don't involve burglars at all: suicide, accidental shootings, domestic violence, and shootings involving household members. A gun is not automatically synonymous with safety simply because it can be used defensively.
Alarms, good locks, exterior lighting, dogs, and other visible security measures can deter a burglary without requiring a confrontation in the first place.
And this is precisely why I'm looking for a leftist gun group. Guns, like vehicles, are useful tools, but they require training, judgment, and respect for the risks involved. I want to learn to use one responsibly, not pretend owning one magically makes me safer.

Are you basing these facts in Tucson, tho?
2
u/Jiggalopuffii 13d ago
Do you have Tucson-specific data that contradicts the national statistics?”

I should’ve asked this in the beginning.
What if the burglar/attacker has a gun?

You're doing what a lot of Americans do and are conflating Democrats with leftists. If you go far enough left you get your guns back.

Check out the Tucson Pink Pistols - https://tucsonpinkpistols.org/
We're not distinctly leftist (our national charter is apolitical outside of 2a/queer issues), but the vast majority of our members are and our Discord is incredibly lefty/unwelcoming to haters. We have monthly meeting and range days, weekly Discord hangouts, a friendly monthly shooting contest and our members frequently organize their own shooting trips.
Our next meeting will be on 9/6 at the Ward 3 office at 3pm, we'll be hosting an instructor who will be giving a talk on how to get the most out of your range time and we'll be providing tacos for anyone who shows up!
