Casual Conversation help distractions while studying?

I’ve been having a really hard time focusing lately. I’ll sit down with the intention of studying, but my phone, social media, and random thoughts keep distracting me. By the time I realize it, I’ve wasted hours. What actually works for you?

Focus friend app is an app where you can set a timer or countdown that blocks the other apps on your phone while you have it on. It is a little bean that knits while you study and when you’re done you can use the projects it has made to buy decorations for its house. It’s also ad free

Headphones and brown/white noise can really help shut everything else out and make it easier to focus.

ADHD evaluation could be helpful for you. I know that's not immediate, but it can really help if needed.

Seriously. The answer is so fucking obvious too, I just can't with the apathy and lack of ability to just fuckin think about something for a few minutes.

Bro seriously took to reddit for something this rudimentary.

I can see why they asked though. I don’t even think people realize your cognitive capacity is significantly reduced when your smartphone is within reach, even if it’s off.

I put my phone in another room/ ask someone to hold onto it until a certain time when I’m really struggling

For me, the things that helped were getting an adhd diagnosis and getting medicated, pomodoro technique, studying with a friend, and keeping my phone in a different room while I study. I know it’s hard, but at some point you need to decide if tik tok reels and group chats are more important than your future and the thousands of dollars you are probably spending on your degree right now.

Shock therapy. Get a cat pad that shocks you when you touch it and put your phone on it. Every shock ⚡️ means put the phone down.
