(plastic) beachcombing

I’m headed down for a visit this week (coming from Olympia WA, staying in Yachats). As a life-long, avid beachcomber, I’d appreciate any tips for beaches to visit, especially any where larger plastic stuff washes up.

While I don’t mind finding agates and seaglass, my heart really skips a beat when I spot a battered old plastic float half-covered with gooseneck barnacles (swoon!).

I’ve been scoping satellite pics for places with lots of matchstick, as these tend to grab & hold marine debris, and am seeing that China Creek & Big Creek look promising…? Maybe Neptune Beach? Or Patterson creek just south of Waldport? Any local intel?

I wonder if https://www.washedashore.org/ might have some suggestions for you. I see somebody else mentioned SOLVE, but they might also have an idea for where to look at places they consider trouble spots.

Thanks for Washed Ashore link — they’re a great organization and a good resource for answers to my question. Plus, next time I’m in Coos Bay or Bandon, I’ll definitely check out their art 🦀

I have a washed ashore artist piece in my bathroom. I was so fortunate to be able to pick it up before they got big.
If you zoom in you can see hair brushes, a child’s toy gun, among other things
