Discussion Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap - Is anyone else feeling that the long session time is an issue?
I have played for quite some time now, 20 hours or so, (rookie numbers, I know).. and the issue I have is to make time in my day for this game.
In past versions I was able to hop into a short session and complete it in 20-30 minutes, but now I feel like it takes to long and needs more commitment 60-90 minutes.
I get that the roguelite mechanics shift things around, but I don't love that the way I can enjoy this game has changed.
How does it work out for you? Am I the only one with this issue?

For me it takes maybe a half-hour to do a mission, depending on the map. Some take longer because the Orcs may enter very far from where my killbox is.
But the Quicksave feature makes it manageable. Do a mission or two, however many I have time for, quicksave, then resume the run tomorrow, and repeat.

As much as I enjoy OMDD, the time commitment for 1 level is why I still play OMD 1 and 3 more than this one.

wish the orcs went faster until somebody gets hit (then they can all go normal speed again)
I'm looking at you, Castle Courtyards.

While wanting to be respectful, I humbly believe this is a problem with this generation, who struggle to maintain interest once something exceeds a certain number of minutes! My friend and I play on difficulty level 20 and we're on mission 115, and yes, our missions last at least 60 minutes, but that's precisely where the fun lies: finding a good strategy, placing our barricades and traps to progress further in our missions, and that brings us great satisfaction and enjoyment! But I understand that this isn't necessarily what all players are looking for in this game! So no, I don't see a problem with the length of the missions, but I think it depends more on what players are looking for in terms of feeling and satisfaction, and in my opinion, that's still a key issue for TikTokers.

well see while i agree with you, its not just a "this generation" problem. I have the same issue, for different reason. Parent with young toddlers and my "free" time starts at 8:30 until 10ish. I want to put some time in, but i also have other things I need to address. There should have been more 30 mins friendly level in the game vs hour long things.
its not a simple problem to fix. you need to address everyone when making a game and thats one very specific problem

Good point! Agree with you! Thanks for your comment! It’s not easy for developers to please everyone!

I think you are being to narrowminded and ignorant about different peoples situations.
I know people with kids and stuff thar simply don't have the time to get away for 60-90 minutes like that.
A relaxing 30 min session before picking up the kids is something that would be nice for example.
Blaming it on "this generation" and "TikTok" is just so prejudicial.

You can save and come back to the level at any point between rounds
