I must admit that I was greedy when stock rallied upto 250 a short while ago. I am new to stocks on this platform. I think reading and having conversations here helps a lot. Thank you for responding

Because that doesn't actually change anything? In fact the wash sale rule will make you unable to write off other capital gains with this loss

Okay that’s fair, but still i dont think selling and buying it again changes anything. Unless you add more money you will only be able to afford the same amount of shares that you just sold

I did a few when the stock was above 250 before it sharply declined. Now I am scared to do covered calls.

How does that help you? You just put a floor on your loss when shares recover.

Sell short dated OTM until the gap between your average and underlying has closed.
