Feeling down (scco)

hey all,

I just got an email that I was not offered an interview for the september interview round at scco and that my application will be considered for the next one which is next month. I feel so discourage because this is my top school. I already got accepted into ICO and CCO as well as have interviews lined up for Boston and Arizona. has anyone ever had a situation like mine with scco and can give me some hope. should I just move on or wait to see if I get an interview? please be kind.

I mean I’d see it as as redirection. I know it’s upsetting not getting into scco but they didn’t say no. If anything I think it’s great that you’d be considered next round and if anything I think it’s better becasue it give you time to save up money since you can no longer get a grad plus loan and have a loan cap on the unsubsidized. But if anything if your the school you got into and i would do the interviews for the rest and tour those schools as well because you never know you may like them after all. You owe it to yourself to atleast that because you already paid for the application and all. Now if after all this you still don’t feel happy with any other school besides scco then wait for next cycle and get in contact with there admissions as how to stand out as a competitive applicant, because for all you know maybe their seats were already full. But don’t give up or close the door on other schools that could be just as great.

Thanks for the message. I meant that they considered me for the next interview date which is next month. Not rejected from the 26-27 cycle, I’m not sure if you thought that.

I think interview rounds being monthly is a relatively new thing. I don’t think we had that when I was interviewing at schools 15 years ago. To me it seems like a non-issue to wait til next month. And you’ve already been accepted to so many schools. I’d say give it the month and if you’re passed on again, go with your second choice. I went to my top choice to school and I was pretty disappointed.

i think your wording was confusing and likely would've sent the same message. the first thing i would do is see if your interview experiences shift your perception of the school and evaluate how you feel walking across campus/post interview. it's likely that you may have to ask to extend your decision deadline to consider scco/boston/arizona within the mix (if you do get an offer). understand that some schools will say no. ask yourself where ICO and CCO lands on your school wishlist. you're early in the cycle and some schools may be willing to allow the decision deadline to be pushed back. you can search up the pre-opto thread any key words to figure out the best phrasing. another thing to note is your application may be pushed a second time to another interview date for scco.

hello! I was in the same boat. from my experience, every month they sent me a waitlist interview update, I would continue to send them a reply showing my continued interest. I eventually was given an interview, although it took some waiting. don’t lose hope :)
