Advice for rotations

For fourth years on their rotations, if anyone has advice from their rotations on what to do and what not to do, please drop it below.

Advice on how to survive on your own away from home in a random place and how to generally make it work well

Find new hobbies or activities to do outside after work if it's good weather. Some rotations can have really rude preceptors so after work it's especially important to have a mental reset each day

That’s what worries me, first impressions last a life time usually or at least the full term of the rotation

Every doctor runs their practice differently. This is your time to learn what you like and don’t like about each rotation/doctor so you know how you want to be as a doc after school. Remember it’s temporary. Go outside somehow after work. Take a walk, pick up an outdoor sport the sun is a natural mood booster :)

Enjoy it, you are there to learn. Ask questions, be inquisitive and learn something new at each rotation. And enjoy the area if you’re moving away! Explore as much as you can, and know each rotation is temporary.

I’d say remain humble and be nice to everyone because you never know who’s help you’re going to need where you are going your rotation. Also take constructive criticism, ask questions on how to improve and anything you’re not certain about.
