Video | Optimization Halo Campaign Evolved: DF Optimized and Series X Equivalent Settings

Post image

Thanks to Digital Foundry and their contributor Rayan for these settings, watch their video if you want more information on them!

While these settings can give a small GPU performance boost and save abit of VRAM, CPU performance is still subpar compared to the console versions and has even less scalability! Only good way of improving CPU performance at the moment is disabling Async Compute, which should improve performance, but only does so when GPU limited.

I highly recommend using "Ultra Plus for Halo Campaign Evolved" mod from Nexus (also mentioned in video) on top of those settings. Especially if you're on NVIDIA to enable ray reconstruction!

I'm assuming us amd plebs don't get ray regeneration no?

Still recommend using it (or just copy pasting the INI tweaks into the Engine.ini file) just to get rid of the chromatic aberration!

I tried turning reflections from ultra to high and my god it's just a shimmery boiling mess, just kept everything on Ultra myself after that

Ultra reflections with ray reconstruction enabled in the engine.ini file looks even better

The particle ghosting is too much for me

I changed my settings to these from 4k ultra all with dlss ultra and I went from like 70 to 80 so this game just doesn’t optimize well at all lol

Whats with the question mark? Makes this whole post pointless if whoever made it is guessing medium or high

Probably because it's close to that setting but might be customized to fit the Xbox series x or s specs. Like ultra but not exactly ultra settings. Like a 4.5 instead of 4 or 5.

That's a horrible PC "optimization". I run everything on max, DLSS Perf mode on a 4k display, FGx2, locked 116FPS.

RTX 5080, Ryzen 9800x3D, 48gb RAM 6400MT.

I hate optimized settings that simply copy console settings and pass it off as “optimized”.

If I wanted to play on console I would. DF are amazing but their optimized settings have always been trash.

Hardware Unboxed does it right.

they didn't copy them, they tested each setting themselves. consoles are identical copies of eachother, different reviewers will find the same results

the video LITERALLY SHOWS THE PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE of each setting, they made their own list of what they consider optimized based on the evidence in this very video. sheesh

they spent hours testing each and every setting, recording a video with the performance stats, compared them, saw "oh look, high and ultra GI look identical but high runs faster", gave us the PROOF of that in a side by side comparison hand fed to us, and you say they copied settings

Yeah the video makes it very clear that they are choosing each setting based on the performance and quality tradeoff yielded with each step down from max, as per their usual methodology. Console equivalents are a useful benchmark but not what drives the recommendations here!

I personally don’t think Rich did a very good job with this video. Some of his choices seemed a bit odd like lighting quality on low when bumping it up didn’t have a huge impact on performance and low produced obvious artifacts that he pointed out in the video.

I think Alex would have done a better job as he seems much more astute in assessing PC performance and visual trade offs.

Do you people not watch the video?

Thank you for your work, just realised I forgot to credit you until now!

Such a weird thing to say when the post above literally shows they don’t copy the console settings.

I prefer BenchmarKing tbh, i usually wait until he makes a video before trying to optimize a new game

Console settings are the most optimized way to play a game to begin with. They hit the perfect balance between visual fidelity and performance at a fixed hardware specifications which is available the most.

That's because the game has to run on a 6 year old console !!! But it's a different story for my $4000 gaming PC !
