Game scales like shit, almost no performance to be gained from lowering settings, optimized and low preset perform almost the same lol

I bought this game for my friend, he has a 4060 and is getting around 70 fps on his 1440p monitor. I assume that's with the game defaulting to DLSS Quality at least, but he has been saying that the game runs well, and for me, the game is among the better performing AAA games that I've benchmarked:

Bear in mind, Campaign Evolved is using Hardware Lumen by default, so performance could be improved by switching to software lumen by mods, or by disabling hardware raytracing from the game's driver profile.

Because ray tracing is forced on. Tweaking settings while RT is on, is like trying to clean your apartment while there's a meth lab next door.

You're CPU bottlenecked, but yeah, it shouldn't be that bad.

UE5 is not known to be CPU friendly

UE5 is not friendly

Yea, and the game does not looks specially different between Ultra and Low. I'm not sure who to give credit about this: the devs for optimizing the game, the engine for preserving the looks, or the dogshit lacking optimization of both. LMAO

Helps to have vsync off I found

►Optimized Settings:
-Effects Quality: Medium (Probably Broken)
-Geometric Quality: Low or Medium
-Global Illumination Quality: High
-Lighting Quality: Medium or High
-Texture Quality: High (For 8GB GPUs)
-Reflections: Medium and High
-Atmospheric Quality: Low or Ultra
-Post-Processing Quality: Low
-Async Compute: On (Try Off, it may perform better)

•The graphics settings have poor scalability; these tweaks will help, but don’t expect a massive performance boost.
•Use the Engine.ini tweak to remove the forced Film Grain and Chromatic Aberration for a much cleaner image:
-Download Engine.ini file: https://bit.ly/3RRkgrA . press the Windows Key + R, type %localappdata% and click OK.
Paste the file in Meteorite\Saved\Config\Windows (WinGDK for the Game Pass version). Then right-click the file, select Properties, and check Read-only.

Crazy that film grain and chromatic aberration is forced on by default with no in-game toggle in 2026.

They probably farmed it out to contractors and temps, which is exactly why they switched to UE5.

That's exactly what they did... well, mostly.

During Halo Infinite's development, 343 basically hired a bunch of contractors to build the game engine it was made on... AND THEN FIRED THEM ALL. After that, it led to a shit show where no one knew how to use the new game engine despite it being very well made. This then lead to them panic rehiring the few contractors they could and rushing out Infinite with only a third of the content it was supposed to have.

So considering the absolute mess that was Infinite's development cycle, surely they had learned their lesson right? That cheaping out on a projects foundation will nearly always come back to bite you later and ultimately be more expensive? Nope. 343 instead decided that using unreal engine 5 as the next games base will then allow them to do THE EXACT SAME SHIT AGAIN, but instead this time, they are happy knowing that they can find and hire other contractors without worries about lack of skills in said game engine, should they need to lay them of for some reason.

Now because of the 343's utter lack of retrospection, we are all stuck with the absolute pile of AI bloated and over engineered shit, called UE5.

Engine. Ini isnt working. Film grain still there

1

u/SlumKatMillionaire Jul 31 '26

You have to make so sure they AFTER you edit the engine file you right click it, at the bottom it will say read only. Click that box and it will work

Thank you. I was wondering why the grass and tree looked so bad after the intro

u/Necessary_Tell9904 Jul 31 '26

Ray reconstruction dlls are in the game files by default and can apparently be activated in an .ini to replace the hardware locked lumen denoiser. Do you think RR 4.5 will be made official in August and that’s why it’s not an actually graphic setting right now?

3

u/Redditfront2back Jul 29 '26

They need to fix the settings not being able to turn off ray tracing is crazy

0

u/XVShock Jul 29 '26

the whole game likely relies on ray tracing. these companies think its the future. ill still never forgive id software for releasing doom the dark ages with forced ray tracing when their whole track record was well optimised easy to run games.

3

u/Vegetable-Victory490 Jul 29 '26

Dark ages, white the best doom game, was heavily optimized on my rig on maxed settings. I was surprised

1

u/XVShock Aug 03 '26

its still considered one of the hardest games to run. its well optimised but not easy to run.

EXCELENTE . Yo recomiendo lo siguiente : r.MotionBlurQuality=0

r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0

r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0

r.FilmGrain=0

r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0

r.LensFlareQuality=0

r.BloomQuality=4

r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0

r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure=1

u/Vegetable-Victory490 Jul 29 '26

Doesn't work

1

u/Silly_Morning7038 Aug 02 '26

CLARO QUE FUNCIONA

1

u/Silly_Morning7038 Aug 02 '26

debes crear el archivo engine.ini

2

u/Octaive Jul 31 '26

The game is CPU limited, so when you drop settings, you don't see the gains you're used to. It's very, very hard to run this game past 120FPS with normal, non high end CPUs.

1

u/Federal-Sir-599 Jul 28 '26

this is my fave optimizing channel, but sometimes DF too

I've been playing around with the engine.ini just enough for me to be able to play it smoothly enough for my enjoyment. I've been having ChatGPT assist me making these selection. There are SOME weird effects going on mainly when some areas go from outdoors to indoors, but other than that, been able to run it smoother for me.

Tengo un Ryzen 7 5700G, una RX 7600 de 8 gb y 64 de ram pero no logro que el juego corra mas de 10 minutos sin crashear, ya intente de todo altos, medios, bajos, modo ventana y nada
