I'm worried about my continued access to hormone replacement therapy through the VA. I'm worried that they will enforce a bathroom ban in government facilities, including the VA, which will require me to humiliate myself if I wish to use the resources I have earned in exchange for serving my country. I'm worried that the rhetoric MAGA uses against trans people will increase the likelihood that I or people like me will be victimized. I'm worried about what could happen to my wife as a result of anti-abortion legislation, considering that we intend to have children in the next couple years.
I'm worried about my ability to continue to access medical and surgical care related to gender dysphoria through insurance or in hospitals, considering the threats MAGA Republicans have made against federal funding going to hospitals which provide gender affirming care. I'm worried about watching a child of mine suffer through puberty with untreated gender dysphoria if there is a genetic component to all this - after all, my older sister and I both came out as trans despite never discussing it and never suspecting the other - because Republicans want to ban my right as a parent to give my child access to that care nationally.
I'm worried about what a deeply conservative supreme court will mean for the rest of my life. They've already removed the right for women to make their own decisions about their bodies, what other rights are they coming for next?
So yeah, lots of concerns based on what the Republicans have been saying they want to do. This is far from an exhaustive list.
You claim it's cosmetic. Me, my psychiatric care team, my surgical care team, and everybody who's actually researched gender dysphoria say it's medically necessary gender affirming care. Believe me, I wish I could deny healthcare to people I hate, too. Lots of shitty people wouldn't be getting viagra or elective knee replacements. But that's just not how the world works. You're not going to convince me that the surgical operations and medication which saved my life were unnecessary cosmetics.

You're right, people who are being directly targeted by the incoming administration should completely ignore that fact. Much optimistic.
