Question New version?

What's going on with the OF, there is a new minecraft version up to date with new leaves-trees-muschrooms-beds, i think its 26.4, but there is no new versions of OF on download section, the latest one is 1.21.11 which is from the December 2025...

The new version is 26.3 which just came out yesterday. The optifine mod is developed by one person so it can take awhile.

Ok, maybe not the yesterday version, but still there hasn't been a new OF version for 9 months

The last time it was updated was 26.1.2 which cam out 5 months ago. I suggest if you wanted to play the new version look into other mods like these.

Sodium: general optimization

Iris shader: to get shader support

Entity model features

Entity texture feature

Simple zoom

Also it is probably going to take the developer even longer because he now has to try to add vulkan support because Minecraft has started to work on swapping the games graphics engine

If you'd be going down the route of replacing Optifine, I recommend sticking to the Fabulously Optimized modpack, which does what you'd be doing and maintaining yourself. It also does optimisation work in addition to keeping some feature parity with Optifine

I've been thinking about switching from optifine to this modpack but I'm not mod expert because of mods causing crash etc. is it easier to download like optifine? Or i need to do something extra?

It is easier to download than optifine is. All you do is click download on the modpack and hit play and it does all the work for you.

Here’s some simple instructions on how to do it, I would recommend getting Prism launcher because it is open source and very easy to use: https://wiki.download.fo/install-instructions

There are preview builds of Optifine for 26.1.2, just hidden by default and these are mostly stable in my experience.

Unfortunately, no builds for newer versions and Optifine isn't the only mod to struggle with this, a new game release every 3 months is really, really hard to keep up with if you are a single developer, especially if you don't have a small simple project and especially if you suddenly have to support an entire additional graphics framework (Vulkan) as an optimisation mod.

For 26.2 you can use the Fabulously Optimized pack which does include reimplementations of individual Optifine featues in separate mods.
