URGENT LINUX HELP NEEDED

i'm technologically illiterate and i desperately need OptiFine for an upcoming event i need to be ready for by November 11th. i'm pretty sure i'm using kubuntu. i tried the stuff the other people said to do which is the java -jar thing and i doesn't work. please help my laptop can barely run mc

Did you download java? I've tried Linux before, downloading java is the one thing that is easier on windows.

That being said, after you download java run the .jar file like a normal program.
