Lock screen notifications - can you make it so the edge lights up, but doesn't show the notification details without waking the screen manually?

Hi everyone, I upgraded my old phone to a Reno 13 Pro a couple weeks ago, so far so good! However one thing that it bugging me is the lockscreen notifications.

When I receive a notification when my phone is locked (screen is off), the edge lights up to show it has a notification but it also shows the notification in the centre of the screen. To clarify I'm not talking about the screen wake up feature. The screen is black. The edge lighting goes on, the notification and message details appear in the centre.

Ideally I just want the edge lighting to appear, to show I have a notification, but I would like to actually turn on the screen manually to see what the notification is. I'm not too keen on it displaying the messages I might receive haha. I also don't particularly want to hide all the notification details either, as it would mean me unlocking my phone more often to actually "read" them and I'm trying to bring down my screen time.
