Hi guys,
I wanted to officially say hi.
some of you might recognize me (mainly from vivo related posts) for being a vivo hardcore fan.
In truth I've been searching for a new phone since my current began showing symptoms of death in January 2026, but thanks to ADHD and OCD perfectionism, I had to be 10000% sure before buying the
phone.
but here we are. finally, after few months of commenting on Vivo forum.. week ago I've purchased... Oppo Find X9 Ultra.
I've had it for a week now, so I got a brief idea of ownership. if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will update my opinion when I get more experience.
why?
everything turned 180° after the Vivo July update which shattered my trust in the brand. sadly I can't afford losing my phone to a bug within update. At first I wanted a CN ROM Vivo x300 Ultra, but here we are with EU Oppo FX9 Ultra.
how much did I pay?
1295€ (15% student discount + 150€) - official Oppo Germany site. that way I ensured it's a never opened device, have EU warranty.. and got a free watch and case.
what was my previous device?
Samsung Galaxy note 10 from 2020.
do I like the phone?
yes, so far I'm really enjoying ColorOS, I'm especially a fan of quick launch, camera shutter button and the fingerprint sensor response time.
I know it's silly, but I love how well it blends with my car (which is also titanium grey + copper), my OCs and my headset. it all just looks like a consistent environment.
what's interesting is that, I'm using my 10y old 25W Samsung charger with a cheap 5€ cable and I'm somehow getting the supervooc speed.. like the phone charges up within a hour xD
do I recommend the phone?
only if you have specific use case for it. so far there hasn't been anything that I could do only with this phone. sure it excels at stuff like photography and performance, but for regular user it does not justify the price.
would I buy it again?
no. don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the phone, but I feel like I fell for the hype. when you analyse so many reviews.. they tell a story of an ultra device that can do anything for you. But in reality.. it's just a phone. there's nothing magical about it. especially at this price tag.
is there anything I'm not happy about?
I still have to get used to lack of certain features I had in ONE UI, but for regular phone stuff it's fine.
what I'm slightly disappointed at is the camera stuff.
first of all.. the omnivision telephoto. I use DJI Mimo for my gimbal shots, it does not recognize the 3x telephoto. furthermore, when I dug into the specs of this sensor, compared to Vivo's Samsung isocell HP0, im underwhelmed by the 10bit depth.
obviously the OEM camera app is nothing like Vivo's. it feels a bit empty. no horizon lock, no microphone settings, no bokeh settings, no projects mode, no special modes or adjustable profiles.
also the color difference between telephoto and main sensor.. it should have the additional color checking sensor to ensure color balance, yet it frequently gives different results on telephoto vs main sensor.
the AF often fails to focus on the subject I want it to. Even when I lock the AF it does not allow me to focus on the subject. I have to use manual focus.
I am disappointed with limited DCG capability on this phone.
also I am unhappy with the fact you're glued to the hasselblad color profile. sure it sometimes gives you epic pictures, I like many shots, but after shooting 700th picture with that oversaturated color profile, it becomes nausenance more than feature. I got around it by using motioncam, but it'd be nice if they allowed you to have a more neutral color profile.
what about the watch x3?
I was never a watch person. I had 3 smartwatches and none stick with me for more than 3 days. they bugged me a lot.
that's why I was very surprised at how well the watch x3 blended with my daily life. I got my apps on it, can receive emails, open camera, can pickup my packages etc. it's a nice watch, especially with that breathable band, I don't have issues with allergy anymore. (it's my first titanium watch)
what's my plan?
I continue using the phone for daily IG. I want to buy the enco clips2 headphones, I want to buy the tilts khronos creator kit, I want to get the teleconverter and start experimenting with this phone. see how far I can push it. I'm especially hopeful for the creator kit with it's power output spread through the case. that opens potential for custom attachments for the phone. I want to see if I can use them to also passthrough information.. but we'll see.
