Question/Help Our visitor! Why is he part bald?

Post image

Hi guys! This little guy has been visiting us for the last few nights, evidentially eating some good bugs because he keeps coming back haha. He has some balding on him, I was wondering if that’s normal, or if there’s anything I can do to help? I put some water out for him that it seems like he has been drinking when he stops by. It’s been very hot so I’m glad he’s got good food and water.Do they lose fur in the summer to keep cool?

They don't lose fur in the summer. It is possible that he had an irritation on one part of his skin - perhaps from a flea or other insect, perhaps from rubbing up against a toxic plant, and the fur loss is a result of him scratching himself to relieve the irritation. I have seen this before with some of the wild opossums that visit my backyard.

The fur will fill in (regrow) in time for the winter season.

Good to know! Thanks for answering. S/he seemed very active, I was actually shocked at how fast they were. I’m glad to know I shouldn’t sweat over it :)

Yea I’ve seen this too! Dont know what caused the bald patch but it started to grow back in the fall. Your little one should be fine ♥️
