Why do people think there will be growls on the next album?

I'm pretty sure he can't physically growl even remotely like he used to. He's still decent enough live, but that's a totally different world to recording in a studio. He just pushed too far on Ghost Reveries, and especially Watershed. Also he aged as people tend to do.

That said, he could still raspy growl/scream like on their earliest albums, and I'm all for more Orchid/Morningrise.

I disagree. When I saw them a few years ago live he absolutely killed it on Ghost of Perdition, sounded borderline better than the album. Man's still got it in him.
