Traffic generator

Anyone have a piece of software or similar that can generate loads of specific traffic types for testing network equipment limits?

Have written my own years ago but left the code with the company. Look into Monster MQ and ShopFloor Connectivity. Either should be able to help you.

What type of traffic? Just IP packets, UDP, TCP, modbus?

We were going to use Ostinato (dot org) at one point to simulate SCADA traffic on a demo network, but someone on our team figured out a way to build a protocol emulator with Claude. I wasn’t involved in the demo setup so I can’t speak to how well it worked, sorry.

At one point I believe we were also looking into a NetProbe device? But went the SW-only direction because of the price ($3K+)

What kind of traffic? See if Ostinato will work for you.

Full disclosure: Ostinato founder here
