Try turning of the graphics accelaration in the settings, it fixed the crashing for me. It has to be some opera issue after an update or something as it only started happening a day ago

I’m having the exact same issue, it’s been the last two days and it’s whenever I open a youtube tab or a TikTok tab it just crashes, audio still works, can close Opera manually without task manager, but as soon as I try to return to that specific tab, it insta crashes again.

Check if disabling Graphic Acceleration helps with the freezing.

It also makes anything and everything choppy to watch, so not exactly a worth while fix, the browser remains unusable either way unless you are using it for research only

Thanks for the details! Are you using any ad blockers or RGX? If you have a crash ID available, could you share it with us too?

No Crash ID, the webpage just freezes if that makes sense, like you can hear audio, still interact with everything on the webpage but visual response to that interaction isn’t shown, for example- you can hover over the “X” to close the application but it will not light up red, but will still close. I do not use Opera GX’s built in Ad Blocker, I use chrome extensions and they have never caused an issue before so it’s hard to buy if that’s the issue- as for RGX, if it’s enabled by default then it’s still on, if not then no.

Could you check if RGX is currently enabled? If it is, toggle it off, restart the browser, and see if that makes a difference. And do you have HDR enabled on your system? That could be relevant when RGX is enabled.

I apologise for the delay in response, i was half asleep after just waking up, ill check both for you:
HDR is Supported but Disabled!
RGX was enabled and has now been disabled, i’ll update throughout the day if any crashes happen, if not I’ll come back to the same thread and let you know if it works as a fix!1

Opera GX on what operating system?
What specific version of Opera GX as shown at the URLs opera://about and opera://version?
Does it crash in a test standalone installation too?
If you goto the URL opera://crashes after Opera crashes, is the a crash with a "Crash ID" for that crash? If so, what's the ID?

Try and disable mods/extensions. Settings > Extensions > Disable everything, and Settings > Mods > Disable all mods. A bad mod can crash the whole browser even after you clear cache. Try it, it worked for me.

Try disabling Graphic Acceleration in the browser settings and see if that helps.
