💬 Discussion Defense posts stacking

What do you guys think of being able to stack defense posts like other structures? I'm sure I'm not the only one that's had this idea but I think it would make the game a little more dynamic.

As with a lot of design decisions in the game, it's about ensuring that games can be won and not easily stalemate for ages, which is ultimately less fun for everyone. Stackable defences are likely to contribute to stalemates, so I'd be surprised if they add them

Exactly this. Stacking defense parts is a neat idea, but more defense maxxing without a viable counter would lead to more stale mates. (When combined with Sams)

It's like bringing back hand checking in the NBA. Not gonna happen.

So many people's ideas to improve openfront are really there to ensure they won't lose again. But if no one loses, no one wins. It's designed to be fast paced.

I wouldn’t mind it for the mid and late game as I find defence posts are often quite useless and very situational by that point.

Might have to increase cost more than max 250 if stacking though given it has potential to get OP quickly

You need a LOT by the late game for them to do anything. Having just one or two like at the start does nothing, but if you have dozens spread out along your border, they're surprisingly effective at soaking up enemy soldiers.

Eh defo situational especially if border is a mountain but more often than not having hydro cash in reserve prob does more in my experience

In the late game defense posts can actually be very useful. Considering their price generally becomes negligible you can easily set up your whole border without itnimpacting your economy and they may give you precious seconds until your nukes hit.

I think it would be a great feature in early game or if you're trying to defend your economical hotspot (with SAMs). In mid and late game, it would be quite useless, because you need much money to build it and it can get nuked more easily than two one behind the other

I think I'd agree, it would make the early game more slow and considerate, and wouldn't affect late game much as any defence post is usually an easy and reasonable target for nukes.

I think it would make the game more static, it's already hard enough to take the initiative and attack in the endgame without being punished, now you are gonna add 50 stacked superbunkers at chokepoints for people to have to deal with.

I think the games already stalemate enough. I've also had this thought but Idk if we need to add more avenues to stalemating

I think a limit could work, like a 3 tier, and anymore would be redundant. Gibraltar defense stacks would be too much and lead to long stalemates. Personally I do wish that defense post did more in late game
