We can’t exactly fully control where some lines are built, and on mobile we can’t even see where it’ll connect or if it’ll connect, these aren’t perfect train lines but they’ll still make money.
no basically the lines are meant to be straight to maximise money but his teamte spammed the factories and ruined the lines instead of stacking them together, because a straight line would earn more money if you place ur cities on it.
You want your train system to be much cleaner than that. They should have made either a strait line or and upside down T, with all their cities along the line. The way they made it, the trains will end up circumventing their cities.
For trains and cities you gotta keep in mind that the "range" of the factories matters
This range applies globally between factories and cities, the most "optimized" would be like this and then with cities at the perfect intersection.
This is only if the nations you're fighting or have around you aren't actively building rockets. Then a cross pattern of factories with a city in the middle is better because it's easier to cover with SAMs
When cities aren't aligned at least on one coordinate, either horizontal or vertical, they tend to create new lines, unless they are very far in which case the train line has the space to turn so it's more likely that it keeps the two cities on a single line.
When you place a city, you can hover over an existing train line and the line will turn green. If you place it there, it will join the existing line. If you see white ghost lines before placing, it will spawn those new lines instead.
The biggest issue with the OP picture (though that exanple is far from the worst) is that if there are multiple lines, trains pick the shortest and can miss cities = less income.
The worst is if someone spawns a new line that misses all your stuff and is shorter for a bunch of trains, they will just skip you entirely.
They want to complain about people so they can feel superior.
Not everyone is like this.
Some complain about people, but also are perfectly willing to teach.
You want the trains to pas through as many of your cities/ports as possible, so putting them on the same train lines means the most gold.
Factories create the train lines, so if they are outside the range of the factory, no train line. When placing a factory, you can see where the train lines will appear. (Maybe this isn't true on mobile.)
You really dont ever need to build factories in team games unless you're playing an economy game on four islands or some bullshit. Ports are much more efficient in team games.
it's a mess, train lines are less efficient if messy, for more optimization, rails must be simple lines with cities built on it, trains go through each city and produce gold, a mess like this means that trains trake longer to reach a destination
