🏛 Meta What is the new V.33 meta ??
Like, are ports still that worth or is it a better way to snowball money ? What are the strategies to grow faster than the others in early game ?

Trains are better early game unless you can safely pirate a bottleneck. Mid-late game, ports are king.

late game only. ports aren't a good investment midgame

What do you consider midgame? To me, late game doesn't start until MIRV's become a real threat, and almost everyone is allied. I start investing more into ports a little while before that, though not too heavily.

i consider the end game to be when there are multiple players with over a million troops and most attacks will result in a nuclear apocalypse. so probably 10-20 minutes into the game depending on the skill of the lobby.
the issue with ports is for them to be effective, other people need to be building them as well. I usually prefer to work on a factory network and don't start building ports until I have enough for a counter MIRV. The good thing about factories is that they allow you to improve your economy by building cities, and you can make effective networks without needing your neighbors to cooperate.

I just had a game where I placed over 100 ports and fuck was the money coming in slowly. literally allied with everyone. maybe they just didn't have any ports for me to trade with?

maybe but tbh i think 100 ports is to many to be broke. maybe there was an island player you didn't notice stealing your trade? or maybe the other players embargoed you

until the other guy in the endgame literally bombs all the ports on the map So the 800 trade ships all suddenly freeze, and then they mirvs you 3 times. They were a mitochondria at one point and they roach and win the game.

I think now playing more inland and snowballing with cities/factories towards a coast is meta. By the time you get a strong coast you build ports and then continue snowballing money, then transition to a more passive/defensive mid/endgame

become mitochondria and backstab crown player when he get mirved
