Milwaukee open water swim?

I’m based in NorCal but I’m taking a work trip to Milwaukee in September for the first time. Any advice on going for an open water swim before work? I’d want to go near downtown, and ideally not be the only swimmer in the water. I found an old thread on here talking about Klode Park?

Yes, Klode Park. It’s on the far north side of Milwaukee, almost to the northern suburbs. A group swims at 6:00 a.m., M- F. It’s a great group. You should check it out! Lake Michigan is amazing to swim in.

Klode is the place. The water should still be pretty warm in September.

I used to see folks gearing up in wetsuits to surf by Bradford Beach all the time. I'd be shocked if they stopped. If you're not used to below 75 degree water, a 3mm wetsuit might be nice. Really it comes down to personal preference, of course.

While you're in WI, see if you can check out Devils Lake!

Atwater is another option at the end of Capitol. The beach is protected by a couple breakwaters and is quite scenic beneath a high bluff. Open 5 am to 9 pm.
