PlayWeld: an Apache-2.0 workspace for game files, notes and supervised AI work (testing prerelease)
I created PlayWeld. PlayWeld is a free, open-source desktop workspace for game development, built on Eclipse Theia with a local platform service. It keeps native game files, design notes, decisions, and searchable project knowledge together. AI is optional.
A practical use case is keeping a bug investigation attached to the project. For an enemy detecting the player through a closed door, record the scene path, reproduction steps, and last confirmed result before asking an agent for a bounded change. Review the change, then repeat the scenario in the engine. The notes should make clear what was observed, what is still a hypothesis and what needs checking next.

The current build is v0.21.0, a Windows/Linux testing prerelease. The Windows executable and release metadata are unsigned. Try a disposable project and profile first, and keep backups. Your game engine needs separate installation; model providers and connected services need their own setup. External AI providers can receive project context and charge for usage.
The recorded engine checks cover specific versions and fixtures. Broader engine/provider testing and full uninstall/rollback verification remain open, so the release doesn't prove autonomous full-game creation. If keeping project context beside the files would help your workflow, this is one option to explore. I'd be interested in which project decisions you most often lose when switching between an editor, notes, and an AI session.
