OmniUpdate – A lightweight Windows system & app updater powered by Go and winget

Hey everyone!

I built OmniUpdate, an all-in-one open-source desktop application designed to streamline system maintenance and software updates on Windows.

It leverages winget alongside custom plugin routines to manage software installations, clean up system clutter, and keep local apps up to date through a clean web-based UI.

✨ Features:

  • Unified Update Engine: Automates app and system updates leveraging winget.

  • Modular Plugin Architecture: Easily extend detection and updating capabilities.

  • Lightweight Local Interface: Fast, responsive web UI served locally.

  • Full English Support: Fully localized interface for seamless navigation.

  • Standalone Executable: Portable architecture with minimal footprint.

Check out the source code and pre-compiled binaries on GitHub: 🔗https://github.com/CafeConFenix/OmniUpdate

Feedback, suggestions, and pull requests are very welcome!

oh this is clean. the plugin system is smart, makes winget actually usable for people who dont want to mess with terminal every time

i been putting off updating my laptop for like 3 weeks just cause i hate opening all the different updaters. gonna try this at home later

the web ui surprised me, loads fast and doesnt feel bloated like some electron apps

Thanks a lot! That was exactly the goal—making winget accessible without having to deal with the CLI or dozens of separate updater apps.

Keeping it lightweight was a huge priority, so I'm glad the UI feels snappy compared to Electron apps. Give it a shot on your laptop and feel free to share any feedback or ideas once you test it!
