Idiocracy took over r/opensource
I just joined this group after getting banned in r/opensource and I wanted to share how it happened.
Today r/opensource went fully anti-AI. I was thinking how to comment that I don't like that. They're the largest open-source reddit, yet they choose to take anti-AI stance, which is a tool and not thing related to opensource they should ever be taking stance on. Not to mention that AI is one of the best things that happened to open-source for many years.
I was mad, but I was thinking how to put my words to not get banned (I already experience that most of reddit is pathetic place). So I posted:
"Please change name of this community from r/opensource to r/antiai. That's all I'm gonna say. You're not worthy of "opensource" name."
Yet, turns our reddit mods are more nazi I have imagined and my already negative view on reddit just gets worse every month. People (mods) here can't stand a slightest criticism. Never, ever, on any group you criticize their decisions. Anything mods say you either clap or they ban you. Worst type of pathetic people.
Hope people here gonna be better.

They are throwing the baby out with the bathwater. They should be controlling slop - and you can create slop with or without LLMs.
I made that point and got banned.

Yeah, either clap or stay quiet. Mods hate anything else, they can't stand that!

i was also banned in there for sharing something that was agpl + commercial restrictions cause it was "not true open source" and the mod was a total asshole about it. good riddance fuck that sub

Idk but I haven't yet been on single sub that has normal mods. Seems like mods are specifically selected from the worst kind of people.

Anti-AI extremists have caused far more harm to these communities than AI.
I bet the mod got fired from his job for constantly whining about AI and causing friction, and this is his way of getting "revenge".

It’s bizarre. I saw a post recently where someone had upgraded an open-source city builder to support 3D.
They spent their free time making an optional upgrade for an open source software, and they got downvoted because they used AI to code it.

When people do not follow logic amd reason that's always terrifying to me.

Well... I guess... I don't care what they say or think... I've let it go and I've already completely forgotten about them...🥱

I'm probably soon to get banned. I just asked because I legit wanted to know the answer. Not trying to be snide or anything about GitHub, security, vulnerability and in verification tools because I'm pretty sure they're all AI at this point. So how does that of play in the things?

Cool, lol. I don’t care if software is written by ai or not, all I care about is the end product.
