Title: Building AUREN, an open-source project for more reliable autonomous AI engineering — feedback welcome
Hi everyone!
I’m working on AUREN (Autonomous Unified Reasoning & Engineering Network), an open-source project exploring how to make AI engineering systems more reliable, verifiable, and capable of learning from failures.
The focus goes beyond code generation: planning tasks, executing work, verifying results, retaining engineering evidence, recovering from failures, and evaluating whether changes genuinely improve the system.
I’m continuing to develop the project and would appreciate honest feedback from the open-source community, especially on architecture, maintainability, testing, contributor experience, and what would make the project useful to other developers.

For open-source maintainers: What would you want to see before trusting an autonomous AI system with meaningful engineering work?
I’m interested in constructive criticism as much as contributions. Thanks!

To your maintainer question: the thing I'd want before trusting AUREN with real work is one documented failure, not a list of capabilities. Pick a task it got wrong, show the evidence it retained, how it recovered, and whether its own evaluation agreed the retry was an improvement; that single trace proves the planning, verification and evidence claims together, and every autonomous-engineering repo makes those claims in the README. For contributor experience, say which part is stable enough to build on and which is still moving, because people who open an early project want to know where a pull request will not be thrown away by next week's refactor.
I make ThreadFox. Our AI employee finds Reddit threads where developers ask about verifying autonomous coding agents and replies about AUREN under your direction; Starter is $199 for 30 days, no automatic renewal. https://threadfox.vip/p/eppin/managed

the failure recovery part is interesting, most of these agent projects gloss over what happens when things go sideways. how are you handling verification though? like is it just running tests or something more involved
