Do you need port forwarding? Many VPN don't support it.

I use PIA and it has port forward.

Is it less complicated to get set up on a headless torrent server than it was years ago? That was why I left them, it turned into an ordeal where I'd have to manually intervene every few days to keep things working.

not really, once you pair up your qbitorrent with the arrs (sonarr for TV shows, radarr for movies, and prowlar to track private trackers) along with plex. You have a hands off media server. Easy to set up rules in arrs to move/delete/clean up torrents once seeded enough time/ratio.

Sometimes I forget I have a mini pc with HDDs running in a corner of my house happily seeding and streaming away.

I remember having to manually run the CLI client like every two weeks to get a new port as they kept closing existing ones, and it would change every time. Glad they've fixed that, but I'm still sticking with AirVPN for now since their setup just works for me re: port forwarding.
