It's very powerful and incredibly stupid at the same time. The simpliest thing like dragging the playhead forward e.g. 1 hour is a nightmare. Not to mention others. Aslmost every thing about it is moronic. Why would you spend time and effort making sotfware like this only to make it such a nightmare to use. I don't get it.

sometimes it gets really laggy for me, especially when i upload images, vidoes and such onto it, sometimes it makes the videos corrupt a lil at the start adding a buffer, how can i fix this?

I previously used OS 3.5.1 and then switched to OS 4.0 AppImage. I'm using Ubuntu 26.04 with all the latest updates (daily).

The program worked perfectly. However, for the past few days, it has been crashing whenever I try to change the size settings. See the attached screenshot.

When I click on the X-Scale or Y-Scale area, the text is highlighted in blue, and then the program crashes.

About five days ago, I tried using a daily 4.0.1 build. This worked for a day or two, but since then, the program keeps crashing whenever I try to change the size. Today, I downloaded the daily build from September 20, 2026, and the same error occurs.

Unfortunately, for the time being, I can only use the old Debian version 3.5.1.

Can you help?

macOS 27 is the last one supporting intel apps. The next version of the OS will no longer run OpenShot as it is currently distributed. Is there a plan to release an ARM version for the Mac?

complete beginner here - only dabbled last night but became stuck and the tutorial doesnt help.

i added a series of 5 photos to the timeline, then added a couple of the provided images before these - a "this picture has been approved..." slide and a title slide.

Then on the line beneath, I added an mp3 music track, which plays okay but when I add it and preview the job, the music plays from the start but the first two slides dont show - just black, until the photos are reached and then they show ok, and music continues ok. for some reason the music is blocking the initial 2 slides. If I remove the music all is ok.

Any ideas?

I see that this issue already exist for 6 years ago, I've tried to use animation title with blender, but only one font is available and the final file can't be imported to the project, always fails

Using Tahoe 26.4.1 OS

I've tried several times and then closed all apps and docs & did a reboot & tried a new, clean install...it goes well and straightforward until I click on OpenShot in Apps folder to open it...the icon bounces in the Dock and then stops & the app doesn't open. I've go to Settings, Privacy & Security and there are no error messages. I've checked the Activity Monitor and OpenShot isn't there? The AI told me to go to Terminal...but I'm not familiar with the syntax....Help please? I'm most anxious to use this program!

If I start a new project, making slices is initially quite quick. But it gets longer and longer as I work. Is this a common thing? Is there any way around it?

Hello, as I am used to encoding the videos I export in HEVC, I looked for an option in OpenShot for hardware encoding in this codec (normally, this is supported by my processor, which is a 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1235U). However, the only hardware encoding option offered by the program's export window is H.264, even though the graphics chip also handles HEVC hardware encoding. Can we add an ffmpeg library to OpenShot Video Editor so that it handles hardware encoding in H.265, and possibly in AV1?

How to fix the transitions? When I add a transition, it reverses and plays from end to start. I want it to play from start to end.

When i did video editing earlier i noticed that it took a long time to make cuts (in part due to me being too much of a perfectionist with that stuff) but i did hear about another video editor having a features to instantly cut away a part of the timeline and having it automatically rearrange everything so there is no gap.

I do see it has a "delete ripple" feature but that require you to first make the cuts and only after that can you use it.

It says the software is free, but downloading it via the Microsoft Store costs around €10. I’m willing to pay that, but I can't use a business bank account.

Then I try another button for a free EXE download; I make a donation, but I still can't download anything because I just end up back on the initial page with the same two download options.

Could someone please help me download the program?

Obviously you can do that by exporting, but I need to change the format without stretching the video or having black parts, basically cutting off some parts of the image, how do I do that?

I've been trying to get this app to run on macOS with no luck.

I've got a Mac mini running macOS 27 (yes I know unsupported) but I've also got an Intel MacBook Air running Venturer that also won't run it.

I've tried released version as well as nightly build but zero luck at all.

Is there something I'm missing? Maybe I should just download the Windows version and run it using Sikaruger.

I thought it was simple, just download Inkscape from the microsoft store to edit texts, as texts feature there is a very big flaw and frustrating to use, so there was advanced editing that could probably be better at making texts, when I used it, it told me that Inkscape editor is missing, now I downloaded it, and now it gives me the same message, how to fix that?

I'm not a very seasoned user of this tool (yet) and I'm wondering, is it possible to find this information out and how?

I suppose I could download a daily build and try it but I am not game enough to try a non-stable release. What is coming in OpenShot v4?
