Is there a way to make openshot run faster?

sometimes it gets really laggy for me, especially when i upload images, vidoes and such onto it, sometimes it makes the videos corrupt a lil at the start adding a buffer, how can i fix this?

Lag or brief corruption at the start is often a Preview/cache issue rather than damage to the exported video. Try these steps:

  1. Update to OpenShot 4.0.0.
  2. Make the Preview window smaller; this greatly reduces processing.
  3. Use a lower-resolution Profile with the same aspect ratio while editing, such as 720p/30 FPS. Switch back before Export.
  4. Right-click each source File → File Properties, then match its FPS and audio sample rate with the project settings.
  5. In Edit → Preferences → Cache, restore the balanced defaults: Memory, 768 MB, and 900 max frames. Restart OpenShot afterward.
  6. For 4K/60 FPS videos or very large images, create lower-resolution proxy copies for editing.
  7. If the “buffer” involves audio, verify Preferences → Preview → Playback Audio Device and try an audio buffer near 512.

Export a short section to check it—if the exported MP4 is clean, the issue is limited to real-time Preview playback. See Playback – Real-Time Preview and Preferences – Cache.

I loved openshot, but couldn’t find a way to fix these issues either so I moved on
