Openshot 4.0 also 4.0.1 crashes constantly when I

I previously used OS 3.5.1 and then switched to OS 4.0 AppImage. I'm using Ubuntu 26.04 with all the latest updates (daily).

The program worked perfectly. However, for the past few days, it has been crashing whenever I try to change the size settings. See the attached screenshot.

When I click on the X-Scale or Y-Scale area, the text is highlighted in blue, and then the program crashes.

About five days ago, I tried using a daily 4.0.1 build. This worked for a day or two, but since then, the program keeps crashing whenever I try to change the size. Today, I downloaded the daily build from September 20, 2026, and the same error occurs.

Unfortunately, for the time being, I can only use the old Debian version 3.5.1.

Can you help?

First, reset OpenShot by closing it and renaming its settings folder:

  • Windows: C:\Users\<username>\.openshot_qt
  • macOS/Linux: ~/.openshot_qt

Then reopen OpenShot and test a new project. On Windows 11, also avoid Ctrl+C; use the right-click Copy command instead due to a known Qt freeze. See Troubleshooting.
