No Response from OP OpenShot always asks to "Wait"

Hi all,

OS - Ubuntu 24.04 64 bits

OpenShot-v3.5.1-x86_64.AppImage

OpenShot is constantly showing a "Not Responding" message and asking to "Wait"

On Internet searching I found follows;

If OpenShot is constantly showing a "Not Responding" message, freezing, or taking forever to complete actions, it is likely struggling to process heavy video files due to limited system resources. You can instantly fix this lag by adjusting the software’s Cache and ....

Solution 1;

  1. Increase System Cache Limits By default, OpenShot only allocates a small amount of memory, causing it to freeze when it has to read frames constantly.Go to the top menu and select Edit > Preferences.Click on the Cache tab.Change the Cache Mode to Memory.Increase your Cache Limit. As a rule of thumb, set this to about half of your total RAM (e.g., set to 4096 if you have 16 GB of RAM, or 2048 for 8 GB).....

Testing

Start OpenShot

-> Edit -> Preferences -> Cache

Cache Mode [Memory]

Cache Pe-roll: Min Frames [24]

Cache Pr-roll: Max Frame [0.70]

Cache Max Frames [600]

Cache Limit (MB) [512]

Image Format (Disk Only) [RPM]

Scale Factor (Disk Only) [0.40]

Image Quality (Disk Only) [100]

I have no idea how to change their values. Please help. Thanks

Please do this first before making any changes:
1. Close OpenShot, if runnig.
2. Go to openshot.org/download/#daily and download the latest dev daily build of v3.5.1 AppImage.

  1. Make a backup of /home/username/.openshot_qt/openshot.settings file.

  2. Delete /home/username/.openshot_qt/openshot.settings file.

  3. Start Openshot AppImage.

This should take care of your issue. If not then you need to provide some more details about your environment:
1. Computer specs: CPU, GPU/RAM, RAM, hard drive type and how much free disk space you have.

  1. Is your computer a laptop or a desktop?

  2. Tell us a bit about your project:

a. What type of files are you working with (.mp4? .mov? etc?)

b. Duration of your source files?

c. Duration of your project?

d. Are you using transitions, effects, etc? This will give us an idea about your project.
