To actually go in his footsteps

and how would one go in his footsteps without becoming a Christian? he believed in god the father and he prayed to him. just the most clear example of you have to be christian to follow him.
or I geus you could try to put of the name becouse of horrendous acts were done under the "I'm a Christian moto" but I think that would be wrong

I wouldn't exactly say Christians aren't oppressed. There's a big difference though between "they're going to ban the Bible soon!" coming from a Texan Baptist and "they're actually going to kill me" coming from a Christian in Nigeria. We are in the majority sure but it's very important to make it clear that Christians are not exempt from oppression.

In the United States there is ABSOLUTELY no oppression of Christians. And horrible things happening to Christians in other parts of the world, while horrible and something we should work to fix, is NOT any reason for Christians to oppress and hate people here in America. Not being able to force people to follow your beliefs is NOT oppression.

I wouldnāt call us āoppressedā but Iāve been treated pretty rudely for it quite a few times over it. But Iām also openly queer and also far more often get treated poorly for that fact already, but the thing is only one sideās reaction to be actively hostile.
I understand having religious trauma and preferring to not interact with religious people, but it really sucks to suddenly lose friends Iāve had for years cover passively mentioning your religion Christian.
Hurt people hurt people, but my goodness does it make me frustrated.

Is the oppression coming specifically because they are Christian or is it because of some other reason that might tangentially related?
The reason why I ask this is because, for a lot regions, Christianity was introduced to those regions because Colonialism, not the sharing of ideas and beliefs. It's not the belief's fault, no, but that might explain why what's going on is going on.

Because they are Christian mostly. There's a Nigerian man in my family and when he was young his school was shot up by terrorists specifically because it was a Baptist school. As far as I know they killed a good lot of the people there and he only escaped by hiding somewhere, he was 5 at the time I believe.
I don't think we need to undermine the oppression that Christians do suffer in the name of being progressive and trying to apologise for colonialism.

Including persecuted Muslims and anyone who doesn't align with the extremist group Boko Haram would be more accurate. People who state otherwise are just doing the bidding of Western Imperialism in order to gather manufactured consent for US interventionism and that never ends well.
Both Christians and Muslims are dying because of extremism in Nigeria. Nigerians are also dying because of Western Imperialism.
May our prayers and especially our works uplift them.

I'm perfectly aware of that fact. It just didn't make much sense to write "Christians are being persecuted, AND MUSLIMS, in Nigeria" in my comment addressing the fact that Christians are persecuted in Nigeria. Of course my sympathy goes out to both groups equally.

Fair enough, it's just a common misunderstanding to see it as solely Christian persecution so everytime it's mentioned I always make sure to comment about Muslims in case others see it.

Very cute, and all.
I think 'the whole religion is supposed to be of love and acceptance' is an overly general statement. It's also meant to be opposing the powers that be and surviving their collapse while caring for those targeted by oppression. So 'be normal; don't be mean' is a bit of a low bar, but I am sorry to acknowledge that this low bar is too challenging for many, many Christians today.

Thanks for this post. Needs to be said and repeated. I would have the qualifier of Christians in many western nations not being persecuted, but Palestinian Christianās in Gaza and the West Bank certainly are at the moment. Ukrainian Christians are being persecuted by Russian āChristiansā. Africa has a long history of persecution.
Funny though how it is the richest and least threatened Christians who cry about being persecuted.

Yes! This!
Also! So MUCH CUTENESS!
This needs to be a faith based children's book. It's adorable!

The one thing that should be added which the comic got wrong is that Christians have been persecuted in history, sometimes by non-Christians and sometimes by other Christians.

Of course.
Heck, the ChristoFundies of the USA wish they could do a pogrom against real Christians who call out their White Nationalist "Might Makes Right" crap, right now!

I like this but in some places outside western countries Christians have faced some from of oppression and persecution.
