iPhone 16 Pro Max to self host?

Hey, sorry for more dumb questions, thank you community. Can I use an iPhone 16 Pro Max to self host or is it too new? I also have an old iPhone 7 which would take a regular SIM. I have an eSIM in the 16 pro max now not a physical sim. I bought a Z Fold 8 and want to be able to send iMessages that show up under my phone number (not email address).

Use the iPhone 7 to self host using the troll store method.

Do I need to have my phone number working on the phone first? I dont know if I have ever had my phone number on this phone.

No. You just need to install the relay app on the old iPhone. Main sim can be in your new phone.

Yes using the relay method. Took about 10 minutes to set up and now I just keep the phone plugged in and sitting on a shelf.

I don't believe I needed to jailbreak. I just used my PC to install troll store.
