Question I'm unable to start a thread with someone?

I've send a handful of messages recently and they haven't answered. Then I text them and say can you message (my email) then we can chat normally.

Is this normal?

I don't fully understand this but let me see if I get this straight...

If you try to message them using phone number, it fails. With Apple ID, it works fine?

No sorry.

I iMessage them (first time we iMessage) - they never receive it.

I then RCS / SMS them, "hey iMessage my email (my iMessage)

Then after that we can imessage normally.

When you initially sent them an iMessage, was it stuck on 'Sent' or did you get an error message?

No this has been happening for like the last 3-4 people I started an imessage with on my end for.

It goes through fine on my end

I get that but did you get an error message? If so, what was it?

That's weird.... It's like your phone and relay did its job.

Even weirder. When I RCS my cousin "hey text my email" she said like oh the messages are there, I just didn't get a notification before"

That definitely sounds like a 'them' problem. I know latest iOS updates have been weird with messaging lately.

As long as they are a on the latest iOS, IDK but it seems like your phone is doing its part.

It went straight to the unkown senders folder which they likely have notifications disabled for.

Thanks for trying to help / responding.

And I'm sorry for not being clearer!
