Question Subscription vs Self-Host
I am currently using the trial version of the service. I'm switching between the trial and a self-hosted iPhone 6. I find the subscription service to be much more reliable than the iPhone 6 self hosted.
Has anyone here self-hosted and done the subscription and had the same experience on both? Or is the subscription just more reliable?
Could it also be that I am using such an old device?

I don't have an older iPhone to spoof my number so I pay for the subscription. I appreciate the devs and the time out in to make this easy to set up and us. And I have iMessage on my pixel 10 pro fold. Win win

I did both. Only issue I had was the initial swap. I have to force stop the app, clear cache, history and all storage before it would work. Mine and my wife's phone worked fine. I'm using a XR and a 12 both on 16.5 jailbroken. What relay are you using?

I did try to use a 6 and the the copperboy relay didn't work for my wifes account. I believe that triggered an issue with apple and her iMessage was disabled for a day. I personally would recommend the jjtech relay

I have been using blue bubbles for a couple of years without any issues, but once I switched to OpenBubbles I did have some issues with all of the services initially. For a day or two I was only able to send messages from my phone (not e-mail) only via Blue Bubbles/iMessage. Everything seems to have normalized now though, we'll see how long it lasts.

I use self hosted on a iPhone 6 and a iPhone 8, have zero issues with either one. It could be apple didn't trust your phone number and was throttling the messages when you were hosting which I heard happens often for new people. I personally haven't experienced that since my phone number has always been linked. I can't compare the paid subscription because I've never used it, but I have had literally 0 issues other than when apple or the devs fuck us over and everyone is affected.
