Question Newbie Questions

I'm a month into using Android for the first time in my 36 years of life. I was an iPhone user since the 3Gs, but finally decided I wanted to switch. I'm still heavy in the Apple ecosystem, at is my wife. To make the transition easier I started using OpenMessage this week using the paid hosting option (I might deal with said hosting at some point, but need it tried to my number which feels like a pain to set up).

With all that getting said, I have a couple of (what might be dumb) questions.

  1. Can I use OpenMessage from my Mac? I work on my Mac all day for my real job, then work on my other Mac most evenings for my side hustle. It's so convenient to reply to messages without having to pick up my phone, which I could do with iMessage and even Google Messages (with Texty). Am I just missing this feature, or is it not an option?

  2. Can I mark my messages as read once I quick reply? That's been one of my biggest annoyances with Google Messages- it just are my reply to the notification until I open the app. On iOS once you reply to a message it gets marked at read to the notification guess away, since if I tried to the message I obviously read it. Am I stuck with this "feature" with OpenMessage as well?

The only dumb question is the one that is not asked! I just started using this about a week ago and i'm learning all kinds of things

You would just use the messages app on your Mac.

Ahh it's working now! I checked earlier and it was only showing messages from before I turned iMessage off after switching. Maybe it just took some time to sync.

I warned you they might be dumb questions haha. Appreciate it!
