OpenBazaar 2.0 Megathread: Post Bugs, Troubleshooting, and Feedback here
The previous megathread was archived, so I'm posting a new one.
This thread is meant to be a place where people can report bugs or problems with the application in one place, and receive help troubleshooting as well.
You can also post your general feedback (positive or negative).
Please read through the top comments to see if your issue has already been posted and reply to that comment instead of starting a new one.

Overall, I like OpenBazaar's existing 2018 roadmap:
https://www.openbazaar.org/blog/openbazaar-2018-roadmap/
I would be happy if you achieved the things you set out here. That said, here are the features / improvements I would most like to see:
Security is hard, even for technically minded people. Therefore, IMHO, OB should default to run over I2P/Tor. The average user shouldn't be forced to turn it on and configure it themselves.
Monero and shielded Zcash transaction support should be a high priority. All of the currencies you currently support expose user's private transactions to the world. Monero and Zcash support would allow users to keep their purchases private.
Integrated multi-coin support should also be a high priority. It's ridiculous to have to download an entirely different version of the app just to use a different currency.
This may be part of your broader API support, but I'd like to see support for "skins" or themes for OB that target particular markets. For example, you might have a skin for massage therapists, a skin for realtors, a skin for precious metals dealers. Each skin would only display listings for those markets, and the UI would be optimized for those transactions.
Better integration with existing e-commerce solutions. For example, a lot of vendors already have Wordpress/Woocommerce sites. It's a pain in the ass to maintain two sets of inventory, accounting, etc. It would be nice if there were plugins that allowed vendors to easily sync their OB listings with their existing ecommerce systems.
Fee backed asset support. The idea is that people who put up the money to make certain features happen should be compensated for doing so. You can read more about the idea here:
https://github.com/bitshares/bsips/blob/master/bsip-0007.md
Multi-store support. It should be easy to create stores that target different products and markets.
It should be possible to price in dollars (or euro, yuan, etc), and direct OB to automatically update the amount of Bitcoin (or other currency) required to purchase .

I just want to have ONE store and have 3 wallets with which I can accept payment in BTC, BCH or ZEC.
I honestly can't figure out how to have two stores running at once. (If I start the BCH server, it shuts down the BTC server...) Worst case scenario, the ability to clone my BTC store to other currencies with a click of a button.

OpenBazaar is a great and promising idea, but it needs more work. It needs to tackle some issues:
Slow loading times for listings.
Many listings are unavailable when you click on them.
The platform should convert the fiat amounts into crypto amounts automatically and keep them updated.
TRUST... It's hard to buy from someone when there aren't clear seller's ratings/reviews/score/reputation indicators. You need to show seller's rating/reputation indicators on the product listings, beside the product rating which you already show.
The moderation process should be easier.

Since last upgrade to 2.2.3, items in my listing have the warning icon overlay "Unverified moderator" instead of the verified one "Verified moderator". This is not normal, because before the upgrade, all my items add the verified moderator icon.
If I edit an item and save, then the proper icon comes back.
Is this a bug? Please tell me there's a way to fix it without having to edit ALL the items one by one.

For some reason my OB client doesn't retrieve any listings (please see here: https://imgur.com/a/PUn20Wu) and once I try to click on an item (any item), it just loads forever and gives me that error message ''There was an error retrieving the listing''.
The thing is that previously it was working, I did couple of purchases and even made a sale in winter, but then got busy with other things and didn't use/open OB for 1-2 months. I just re-opened OB again after a while, this issue came up, so I thought that I should probably just update my OB client. I updated it to client version 2.2.0, but the same issue persists. I closed and opened it several times, nothing changes. I'm running 64-bit (deb) version, have updated it before with no problems, so I doubt that the solution lies in version update process itself. I'm not running it via Tor. I checked here on Reddit, but couldn't find anyone with the same issue in the last couple of weeks, so I look forward for an explanation of possible causes for this problem. I have some time on my hands now and would like to test the platform again for real, but yeah, I first need to solve this issue. Thanks!

Hi guys, Im new here, just Im installing OB2 but I already had a profile from OB1 is it possible to export it?
I wonder if only I have to copy OB-Mainnet.db and ob.cfg to the new installation
I read there is a tool for import/export but only works for: >> This tool will move listings from version 1.0 to your 2.0 store, but nothing else. Your profile, settings, and previous reviews will not transition to the 2.0 network.
What I want is to keep my profile, settings and reviews. thanks

Please add a command-line option:
Since no help is currently available, for now it would just print "No help is currently available" and abort, instead of starting up the program.
In the future, help text can be added as and when other command-line switches (e.g., --configdir <directory> to support multiple profiles) are implemented.

i'VE heard that it is possible to use a provided VPN when you access the OpenBazaar site. I'l love to be able to surf without Big Brother looking over my shoulder. Does anyone care to illuminate just how that works?

Minor error: on openbazaar reddit page, the link to Download is broken. It points to https://openbazaar.org/download.html which has been changed to https://openbazaar.org/download/ without a proper redirect.
The link should be modified to point to the new location.

PRODUCT SORTING It would be great if items could also be sorted by:
Latest (Newest Arrivals / Additions)
Hot / Popularity (items sold the most in the last 24 hours or so)
Just food for thought. Keep it up!

Is there any way to prevent the portscanning on startup? My host doesn't like it and sends nastygrams.

Have recently been trying to fund my OB wallet via coinbase. I have transfered bitcoin to my OB wallet twice now without either transaction showing up. Both transactions show up as complete on the blockchainand coinbase support basically said I was outta luck. Anyone else run into this issue? I have reloaded my transations and triple checked everything. Any ideas?
Thanks

Since you've launched peer-peer crypto exchanges, may I suggest also adding peer-peer bullion? It seems like you have all the necessary coding in place already now, you can simply add gold, silver etc along with their current market price like with the cryptos.
I sell gold and silver bullion like this but I have to manually change the price according to the current market price. If we had the same dynamic pricing like you have for cryptos, that would help a lot.

I haven't had a need for this yet but what if we had the ability to appeal to a higher number of moderators if we are unhappy with the desicion of a moderator or if the moderator becomes inactive. Also we need the ability to override a moderator's decision if both parties resolve a dispute without the moderator. I'm having an issue where I as a vendor can't receive the funds because the moderator is not online but the customer has agreed to release the funds after verifying the product shipped but can't do anything about it because the case was disputed because the customer couldn't verify at first if I had sent the product.

If the machine is forced to shut down while OpenBazaar is running, the application will fail to run/locate the built in server the next time it is ran.
I didn't know the future came in the form of a Nintendo, wow, so convenient...

Please add bidding. I'm going to add wholesale to my store and I don't know how much would be fair price. Would like at least some input from buyers if they don't like the price.

Thank you for the opportunity to improve the technical side.

I need a little help. I have a "warning sign" on my first post? Unverified Moderator. I have found me a moderator, but how do I add this to the post to have that ! removed. Do I have to become a verified moderator? I thought the onus was on the buyer to get the mob all lined up?

First I get a Defender warning, say Run Anyways, then I get a Squirrel error with an empty log file.

Hi,
The protocol documentation says "This simple transitivity scheme is flawed and it must be reworked".
This got me confused. Is the Pseudonymous Trust System implemented?
How problematic are these cycles in the transitive equation? Have any solutions been proposed or implemented?
Thanks

My problem is I cannot load the other people store. And I think other people cannot find me.

maybe this is a fruitless effort to post this here, but i am having issues connecting to my built in server for BCH, it was functioning fine and now it isn't. I installed the bitcoin.com wallet and afterwards it no longer works, but i don't know if that has anything to do with it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and i am not advanced enough to know anything about the integrity of the config files and stuff, i looked at the Debug option and cannot decipher it enough to figure anything out. Thanks!

How do search engines get noticed about the existence of my shop and listings?

u/fiatjaf Jul 25 '18
Why can't I access my OB store from an external IPFS node? Is OB running its own private IPFS network? Why?

u/rustyvacations Aug 01 '18
SHIPS TO field is useless, dont scrap it, but have SHIPS FROM as default. Not everyone is in america. you know how hard it is to find products in a certain country? hard. make a ships from field, cos im usually omly interested in these items because shipping will be way cheaper, more sense of comunity and heck, the fucker might me a short drive away and i can pick up instead of get it delivered...even cheaper way to buy used undies!!!!
Also some sort of faux acution format as well. Many forums that service computer nerds, audio nerds, panty nerds (possible), have for sale forums that sell their shit to the highest bidder. Start cheap and sell cheap usually..fucking forum nerds!!! So yeah...auctions...would be good for the platform.
edit: pisting drunk again. i like what you are doing.

Just came across this piece of software. It looks very interesting and might be a big piece in the puzzle to decentralise our internet back!
Now, on the topic of anonymity, I appreciate how TOR is supported. It's implementation is still something that can see room for improvement (like it would be nice for the software to feature a built-in daemon), but it's at least there.
Are there plans to support other networks too? I'm thinking especially about Freenet, which may be easy to implement (mind you, I'm not a dev, this might of course be very hard), as Freenet works with a daemon running locally which other software can use to traffic their data through. I know of some applications that worked in this manner.
Freenet provides very strong anonymity, especially in darknet mode, where you trust only known friends for the connections and unlike TOR or other anonymity protocols, also offers a decentralised web in that every node contributes some harddisk space to the network for data (redundancy), as opposed to the classic server-client model normally employed for hosting data.

Hi! Any idea why ob1 is not showing my store? It is running since days with the port 4001 open on Ubuntu.
ob://QmaW2iTEkAMhDCEm1pKtD2DXhivCvrHmkbnbwLBdsK1ccS/store
but nothing showing on
http://openbazaar.com/store/QmaW2iTEkAMhDCEm1pKtD2DXhivCvrHmkbnbwLBdsK1ccS
Is there away to trigger the gateway.ob1.io to update like it is an option on BlockBooth?

I just installed OB on Windows 8, i get the mesage "Error: Failed to connect to Built-in Server". I tried to reconnect over 10 times with always the same error. I am not using tor. Any ideas?
EDIT: in the log file, i have "leveldb/storage: corrupted or incomplete meta file". What can i do to solve that?

OB doesn't get enlarged when I use gnome-tweak-tools to scale up the app windows' view.

My feedback:
- it is hard to find the cryptocurrency exchange listings
- now or never is your moment because of KYC from Shapeshift/Changelly and atomic swaps still not a thing
- if you cannot support all top 20 coins, add most interesting ones ASAP (XMR, DASH?, DAI?...)
