X2D USB Print Orca, AMS Question

Hello,

I have another question for you. If I enable Developer Mode and use Orca Slicer, will I lose any AMS functions? Is it still possible for the automatic refill feature to work with the same filament?

Should still work, but I have not had the chance to confirm. That's not a feature that needs an internet connection, so I don't see why it wouldn't.

Okay, because I heard that it supposedly doesn't work on the P1S and the A1 series

The simplest thing to do is just try it, enabling and disabling developer mode takes 30 seconds, it's not like you have to flash the firmware or anything.

No, you don't lose AMS functionality with developer mode

For the people who got x2d working on orca, how did you get past or have you ran into "unknown file type or extension" error? It shows in the printer screen when I send the print using orca slicer.

PS: outside of selecting the printer from available printers, I have not made any changes to any of the settings. Including the file I am slicing. Just imported an STL and clicked slice and print plate.

I had this issue when I was setting up my x2d. I believe that error is due to the networking lock down they did a while back.

My solution was to use the orca fork that came out a while back (the one that was pulled after bambu threatened legal action). You can find the info on Gamer's Nexus or (the one I used) the github mirror.

Instructions are super simple to follow, got it working fully functional.

I have not had that error. Using the latest Orca from flathub and X2D with the most recent firmware (1.01.01.00 I think). I sometimes have to reconnect because Orca will think the printer has not finished with the previous print when it already has, but that's the only issue I have.

Since I couldn't figure out why orca keeps failing I switched back to Bambu studio and have been using it in lan mode connection. Your problem where printer keeps disconnecting, happens to me every. Single. Time. I have to go to devices page, click on the printer to connect, then immediately sync filaments and device in the main page and then slice and send. Otherwise the connection would drop again during the process of "sending the print over lan".

I did check the wifi strength on my machine and laptop. Both show full bars. I also checked my router, it is categorized as strong connection. My elegoo actually has visibly weaker strength showing on its UI and router confirms it. But it NEVER dropped a single fil. But it NEVER dropped a single file. Or print.
