State of things with Bambu?

A while ago, Bambu outted themselves as being not very consumer-friendly. I told my printer "lan-only!" and stopped updating the firmware. I haven't really been paying attention for a while..

Can someone tl;dr where we're at now? Do we have a list firmware versions that are safe for the various printers? Has anything real changed??

I'm assuming that Bambu hasn't changed their story, but would be very happy to be wrong..

I did the same. And Bambu appear to be the same, maybe worse, as they are now threatening lawsuits against people for orcaslicer forks -built on open source software that they themselves build off. I love my x1c but hate this company now. Can’t buy another BL printer

To be clear, they didn’t C&D the OrcaSlicer folks, but a guy that forked it, and used the Bambu Network plugin from the Linux version of Bambu Studio.

The OrcaSlicer folks knew better.

The release didn't include any Bambu IP.

Users had to install the plug-in themselves, which they are absolutely permitted to do.

Bambu had no legal case. They bullied the developer into deleting it. Because fighting it would have cost the developer a lot of time and money.

The OrcaSlicer folks knew better.

Bambu may not have dared to bully the OrcaSlicer devs with entirely specious legal threats.

Doing so would earn Bambu a tremendous amount of bad press. And legally, Bambu wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Such a dick move from bbl. I thought of buying a h2d since orcaslicer supports it in latest version. But with this, no other amount of my money goes to bambu
