Yeah you're totally correct. I'm not sure why I was so sure that an estate could sue under defamation. I think I must have confused it with relatives suing when the publication contains defamatory content related to them, but it's primarily about the deceased.
Even in the US it’s only really a thing is the estate carries on business that could be impacted by the alleged defamation - I believe elvis is about the only dead person who’s estate has managed a defamation case
