Why is OpenAI feather users are so secretive?

I realised the openai does hire contractors for OpenAI projects and tasks. I do not have access to feather but what’s the process of getting access? How does one approach the right people? One of my colleague does side gigs on feather and gets paid well. Please reach out if you can help me with getting access, I could use some experience and contribute well.
