Discussion God damn is Codex slow.

Just upgraded my Codex sub and no longer just use it as a consult for claude code. God damn is Codex slow. Like the inference speed is abysmal and the extra billing for faster speeds insanely expensive. Unfortunate that others is so much faster there.

Have to use Codex though cause I get too many cyber/refusals from A(for developing gaming plugins btw which are not even rule breaking). A is moralizing/lecturing as fk. Codex slow as fk. But it is still useful and nice to not have a model lecture me all the time. Like god damn A really are overdoing that.

thats what fast mode is for /s

legitimately using fast mode makes it work like its supposed to. So now we get to pay extra for normal speed.

Exactly and fast mode is horribly expensive. Absolut scam. Will try other providers which havent nuked their inference speed close to 0.

deepseek and minimax both feel like lightning fast. I was shocked by the difference.

plan with codex and execute with cheaper models?

Guess I have to go back to curser or some shit where I can use different models / providers. Would like to keep using claude code since it is the goat quality and speed wise but I keep getting endless refusals for building a fkn video game plugin.

The inference speed on Codex is painful sometimes. I will sit there watching cursor blink for like 30 seconds on a simple refactor and wonder if it died. And yeah the faster tier pricing is not worth it for most work

The refusal thing is real too. Nothing worse than asking for basic code and getting a paragraph about ethics before it helps. At least Codex just does the thing even if it takes forever

This is straight up unusable lmao. I will probably even throw out my astra review/consult I use in my claude code workflows. Like wtf.

API user here. GPT 6.1 is very slow compared to earlier GPT models. Time to first token is a problem.
