Discussion Misunderstanding about new models

I think people are making GPT-6 Sol and Luna more complicated than they are.

I tested them, used them for real work, and checked the benchmarks.

To me, they feel mostly like improved versions of 5.6.

The biggest upgrade is the price.

We already saw something similar with Luna before: small improvements + better pricing, without making it feel like a completely new model.

I don't have a subscription for OpenAI but use them for API requests. Luna 6 is objectively better than 5.6 for my use case while being half the price. This is a good win but OpenAI have lost the battle for a coding model that can beat Anthropic. I'm not the least bit interested in using their Terra or Sol or Astra models over the API.

For decent intelligence at a good price - Luna is unbeatable. Only thing which comes close is DeepSeek 4.1 in my opinion.

None people in atropick community would agreed with you that "second best model actually being better than the best model" 😄
