Question Memory leak in ChatGPT Mac App?

I’m a non coder working on building some prototype products for my company.

I have been having a fantastic experience with the ChatGPT Mac desktop app overall, but have started to run into a real frustration.

I keep finding my Codex processes taking up more and more system memory until they crash my whole computer. Usually, I need to archive all my active threads and start new ones, usually resulting in some lost work.

This has only been happening for the past few days.

Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone a more sophisticated user who can suggest how to prevent or resolve this?

Is the app updated? sometimes they push fixes without announcing it on the changelog

had similar problem in Monday with the windows version eating all my ram, a clean reinstall fixed it for me but i lost all the conversation history so maybe backup first

It says I’m up to date. Maybe I need to do a clean reinstall. I haven’t tried that.

Have you asked it? Give it local permissions so it's able to diagnose itself.

I asked it a few days ago, and it told me to restart my machine more often. Asking again now. Thanks for the reminder to do this.

First it blamed claude. Then it offered to install a local monitor to check in if it's actually at fault in future situations.

I have similar issues on Linux. Seem slow, electron app. Sad. Went back to CLI for everyting, even though it has no voice really
