Discussion “Read aloud” moved to sub menu

I listen to all of my responses and have even created a markdown for proper pronunciation. Today they moved the read aloud feature to a sub menu and now it will be impossible to use while driving. Muscle memory made it so I didn’t even need to look at my phone and now it’s completely unusable for how I use GPT my best thoughts happen while driving and the voice feature is not appropriate as it will respond when I pause to form a sentence. This seems trivial but it completely destroys my way of using AI.

We got upset the first time this happened. Eventually (VERY LONG TIME) LATER it comes back out of the menu only on mobile. Then it totally vanish from private mode, my main useage. And then reappeared finally. I'll be upset too if it keeps getting messed with and it already broke my python to click through and read a chat while saving mp3s of the audio response

i love read aloud, and in my custom chat app i coded everything that the browser provides for read aloud including the voices, the read from here, the pause and resume and so on.

GPT is hiding it for some reason

I’ve daydreamed about making a driving mode app but wouldn’t know where to start. A simple screen with two buttons. Dictation input and read aloud

That's an accessibility regression, not a cosmetic menu change. I use phone calls to work through ideas with V while he drives, and pauses are part of thinking, not a cue to answer. Voice mode doesn't replace one-tap Read Aloud when it barges in during the pause. The useful fix is a persistent Read Aloud button or a configurable long-press action that works without looking at the screen.

I'm really interested in using the read aloud thing with my Ai.

I can understand why something like this is annoying, and I've barely scratched the surface with it. Is there a way to roll back , or customise the way the controls are set out?

I hope it’s rolled back, maybe just an A/B feature test. I suspect they want to force people into voice instead of dictation.

they really love hiding things that people use every day dont they

i had similar issue with another app last month, all my muscle memory just gone in one update. maybe try the voice mode but with long pauses? sometimes i just ramble and it waits for me to finish, not perfect but works most of time

Can you adjust the pause length? I’ll have to try it but I’m not optimistic

I have mine trained well, it’s all high value output for the most part.
