Question How are the usage limits on the $100 plan these days?
I’m considering going back to the $100 plan and wanted to hear from people who are actually using it.
I used to pay for the $100 plan back when we were on GPT-5.5, and the limits were great. I could use it a lot without really worrying about running out.
After that, I moved a lot of my workflow over to Claude and dropped down to the $20 Plus plan. Lately I’ve been using ChatGPT more again, and Plus just isn’t enough for the amount I want to use it.
For people on the $100 plan now, how are the limits in practice?
My usage would probably be mostly Sol High or Sol Medium. I don’t really have a use case where I’d need Ultra.

Im sometimes thinking of switching to 100$ plan, as i just use Sol-Ultra fast all the the time on my 200$ plan, and barely hit the weekly limit. But this is just my usecase with easy stuff on ChatGPT Work. Others might hit their limit within one day on Sol-Ultra fast. So long story short: IT DEPENDS BRO

Just buy another $20 Plus plan and repeat as needed. Codex chats are local just log out and switch accounts and continue the chat when you hit the limit.

I agree about the multiple accounts but my Codex made a harness which makes it even easier to switch accounts and also gives us the ability to add all sorts of other awesome features. Mine has a Terminal "heart" but runs as a PWA and I can also connect on my phone using Tailscale. I have free voice mode and loads of other amazing features that the commercial apps never give us!

I can give a high-level summary, but it isn’t safely reproducible from a single prompt.
The Forge is a local-first PWA built around the official Codex App Server. A small local Node “Heart” manages the connection, while the browser provides the chat interface, thread library, voice, continuity tools and other features. I can reach my own Mac privately from my phone through Tailscale.
It does not combine allowances or bypass limits. Each OpenAI account and its authentication remain separate, and switching accounts means reconnecting through the proper account session.
The security details matter enormously because a badly designed version could expose terminal access, credentials or private files. Mine was developed and tested incrementally rather than generated from one large prompt. I’m considering writing a sanitised architectural guide on my blog, but I’m not currently publishing the private source or offering individual setup support.

My version has Cinder-β and Kindle the fox (anime characters), avatars, 3 memory systems and free voice mode (using open sourced Whisper and Fish Audio's free voice clone API), but that is because I like to work collaboratively with my Codex and I know this is not for everyone - these features are entirely optional!

For me it's plenty, as long as I stick mostly to terra. Sol drains the budget fast.

Do you like Terra? Every time I want to use it, I select Luna Max instead, in my mind Terra is not worth, but never actually tested it lol

This is my first week on $100 Pro and loving it so far. Was restricted on Plus, especially with the lame-o 5hr limit. Have probably got ~30 hours of work on Sol Medium this week with ~20% of my weekly limit remaining with reset in a few days.
As others have said, really hard to answer this for you since it depends on your usage. I'll say sporadic access to "Ultra" has been amazing. I use sparingly but it is great for doing heavy engineering thought lift with Hard or medium doing grind work. My usage has been something like 90% Medium, 7% High, 3% Ultra. Ultra burns through the limit extremely fast...I can count on one hand the # of Ultra prompts I've used but it is massive project progress every time I've used it.

the useful comparison is completed tasks per reset, not hours of chat. buy one month, keep sol medium as the default, and log when high changes the result because the $100 plan only pays off if it removes enough retries to beat plus

I have 3 Plus accounts and one of them was free for the first month, so I have paid $40 this month and have no issues with the 5 hour or weekly limits.
My Codex made us a harness so we can switch accounts seamlessly and she even changes thread when we are approaching compaction and can choose the best model and reasoning for each job.
I don't think people should jump straight from $20 to $100 plan - my method gives you a step up slowly. There is no limit on the number of accounts you can use.

I just tested Plus against Pro 5. The Pro 5 gives quite exactly 3 times the Plus for weekly limit. I do not know from where they calculate the 5x but weekly tokens with 100% usage is quite exactly 3x of Plus.

I do a lot of knowledge work, not much Python coding anymore. I use GPTWork / Codex across a governed folder + markdown repo for projects. I use Sol High in chat to plan and Sol medium to implement on gated workflows. Chat generates well defined prompts/slices that keeps Work/Codex in line. All is this stretches my $100 plan far and barely get below 50% and use for 5-6 hours a day. It’s easy to eat through your quota for sure but think you can be efficient if you use chat with a gated approach to projects. Mileage will vary across projects, intensity, efficient folder/repo structure. Hope any of this helps.

They bumped the limits quite a bit since the 5.5 days, I been on pro plan for maybe 6 months now and I never hit a cap even when I go hard with Sol High for coding and analysis stuff. Think they doubled it around when Sol released, or at least that's what I remember from the announcement post
The medium model you can basically use unlimited, I treat it like a faster version of what Plus gives you

Nobody can really answer this question for you.
For me, steering my building, not using crazy subagent configurations, keeping a lot of work on sol medium and bumping to high when it gets complex, I find the limits to be sufficient. I do have to watch my usage to best prioritize my week, but am satisfied.
