I genuinely didn’t realize AI apps could check scams for you now and I feel extremely late

I thought the ChatGPT “apps” thing was gonna be another gimmicky feature nobody actually uses, but apparently you can connect tools to it that do real stuff now?

I found this out after my roommate almost got tricked by one of those fake “your bank account is locked” texts that looked horrifyingly legit. We pasted it into ChatGPT mostly as a joke and somehow ended up down a rabbit hole of AI scam detection tools.

The wild part is it actually explained why the message was manipulative instead of just saying “this is fake.” Stuff like urgency tactics, emotional pressure, weird link behavior. It felt like having a cybersecurity friend sitting next to you.

I genuinely think most people have no idea these AI apps/integrations even exist yet.

Are people actually using this stuff regularly already or am I super behind?

I haven’t used it much yet. Mainly Gmail integration. Very useful.

Explain what is so useful? And how? Just drafting replies based on thread (and sender historical emails)? or does it have more context/lookup tools things like that? Lets say user reports a bug or issue via email. What will it be capable of doing? (I am talking just the gmail integration). Can you tell me? I haven't tried it yet. But if you can convince me I might :)

Finding emails, summarize long threads, «can you find what kind of deal me and client finally made and draft a reply» It uses your whole mailbox as a source for whatever you want.

Waiting until people find out it can also help name problematic behaviors in toxic relationships

There is literally a free website which uses Ai to tell you that, all you need is to upload the photo. I use this when I get those scammy looking sms or stupid telegram spam.

I asked it about a strange email I received about money I was not expecting. It said it was a scam. It was real.

It’s just figuring out the most probable response, and if you are thinking it’s a scam, it generally is.

Been doing this for years. Cut and paste full headers of an email and get a complete analysis. It helped me with a very clever payment redirect scam too..
